Ha. The computer class in my school in Chile was pretty good. Our teacher was a programmer. He taught us first Pascal, then C. We did lots of assignments, and thanks to that the first programming classes in my university, which were on C, were pieces of cake. He also taught us HTML (big deal for when I was in school back in 1997, internet wasn't wide spread in my country back then). I think that motivated me to study computer science.
I keep seeing this kind of argument, and I just feel is wrong. We don't have many choices when it comes to what we use to transport ourselves, what we use to keep ourselves cool/warm, or to separate trash when no recycling facilities are in the area. Not everybody lives at a walking distance or bicycle distance from work, not everybody lives in a mediterranean weather where summer is not so hot and winter is not so cold, not everybody has the area where they live to put organic trash aside and make it compost or so. Stop with the moral punishment.
The reason why a lot of players are complaining is because of the Jabulani ball and because of the grass quality. The vuvucelas are a problem for some of them too, but is not the one and only reason.
I don't. They're used all the time in Chile in any kind of sports event. It's like it's not even there for me. But my US husband came by when I was watching a match and he said "what sounds like angry bees?". It made me chuckle.
Or even simpler, link a point system to the IP currently streaming, and let the users mod up/down. And them match users depending on their rating. People will be matched with people, and penis with penis.
Right now I'm in that 4% of gamers. I'm new to the US, I got my green card not too long ago, and right now I'm just a "housewife" that cooks and play games around 50 hours a week, because is hard for me to get a job without a car. My husband really doesn't care if I play all the time as long as I'm happy doing it. I think I won the jackpot by marrying him haha.
I used to play WoW all the time. And I was in the top alliance guild of my server, so I was raiding hardcore. But I quit because the guild master was making my life impossible and took all the fun from the game. So right now I'm not even playing wow besides doing arena with my partners. But I'm waiting on the xpac. And I'm catching up with playing a lot of games that I skipped because of WoW.
Well, I got a little sidetracked. What I really wanted to say is, that there are circumstances in one's life that allow this to happen. I'm right in the average (I'm 29 years old). I'm one of the 1/3 of females that play. I went to college and I have my degree, so that part of my life is at least covered. All I need is a job now. But till then, I'll keep playing games.
Agree, it plays with "fancy, currently fad" words like "social gaming". BS. All games are meant to be social. Even single player games, because you end up talking about it with others that maybe you would have never talked to before, just because of the game. Bleh.
Since I was in a private catholic school like I mentioned before, my religion classes were mandatory, obviously. But I was in a semi-public school the first 3 grades, and religion was a class that was optional. The parents would decide if they wanted their kids in it or not (my mother wanted us to have a catholic education so I was signed in, and that's why she moved us to a catholic school later on). I believe that's how it is right now in public schools in Chile. Why is it so hard to have religion classes in schools in the US? they could be optional, and everybody would be happy. Or maybe I'm missing something.
I live in TX, only because I married a texan (And he has liberal ideas). I'm from Chile. Chile, as many other south american countries, was founded with the roman catholic religion in mind, and only until recently church and state have been really close together, although the church doesn't get to make laws. In a country like mine, I can almost, ALMOST justify something like what's happening here. But when I got my education back in school, from 1st to 12th grade, we had SCIENCE and we had RELIGION classes. They never mixed up things. Science is science and religion is religion. And I was is a frigging catholic school. I never heard about this BS called creationism. Yes, the Bible says things about how this planet was created, but they never told us that's how it actually happened. They only said that's how they though it happened BACK THEN.
It surprises me that a country called sub-developed like Chile has way, WAY more common sense that a so called developed country. All I know is that if I have kids, I won't put them on public schools here.
I agree with what you say here except on the sex part. I'm not against teens exploring, but sex is a two person thing (if we keep it "basic"). When a kid is playing or exploring and gets hurt, a scratch in the knee for example, only him/her gets hurt. Sex is trickier because it involves two, and you can get consequences that will be there for life (ie. pregnancy). So I'd be more careful on that particular issue
Well, it IS a pseudonym, it is not my real name. And yes, it is a consistently used one. I call it my "online identity". And everything I post/publish/comment online is under this name, and I always have in mind that someone might google me and see what I post, so even my little blog doesn't have anything that could link me to my real name. And to be honest, googling my online name gets way more hits than my real one. And I'm satisfied with that:)
That's an interesting read. I can see how it works. Like I mentioned before, my country of birth has several political parties, but there are only two or three that are the most popular at one point. But the thing is, with each presidential election, different parties become popular, they kind of "rotate" if you want to call it that way. Sometimes they get repeated, sometimes they don't. I feel that way is much healthier than having two and only two. But eh, it's not like it's going to change anytime soon.
More than Sarah Palin? Yes. And note that I'm very non political, meaning I don't subscribe to the US democrat/republican points of view. My country of birth has several political parties and I still don't understand how a country as big as the US can only have two.
I was reading your source, and the results of the question "Do you believe Sarah Palin is more qualified to be President than Barack Obama?" almost made me spurt my nice pineapple juice.
I actually agree with the AC here. You're supposed to teach your kids about being critics and how to "filter" all the crap they see on TV and internet now, not to create a bubble wrap world for them
Don't be silly, a kid (I'm talking 0-10 age range) can't take responsibility of themselves, otherwise we wouldn't need parents to teach us stuff, just people to feed us and keep us warm. This is bad parenting, plain and simple. If you let your child run your life and tell you what to do, uhm, YOUR fault.
I will always remember my mother telling me after she grounded me for doing something stupid as a kid, "not because I ground you it means that I don't love you, I do it exactly because of that". That is something parents nowdays have forgotten. They don't want the child to cry so they give them everything s/he wants. But crying is good. Learning how to cope with frustration is KEY for when they grow up.
You talk about the "unused" lands in all those countries like if they were completely empty, waiting to be farmed in leu of higher temperatures. But what you usually find there are forests, whole ecosystems, glaciars, and other types of natural features. So you wanna raze them all to the ground and make them farm? why don't just start now razing our natural resources for land? Let's start with the Amazonas! oh wait....

Obviously rats' brains are different to human brains, otherwise rats would be experimenting on humans.
Where's the obvious Hitchhiker's guide to the Galaxy reference?

El Oh El... if only someone would have said something before I moved here!

I agree with you. I'm pretty sure the reps are "riding the sarah palin train" if you want to call it that way.

Right next to Arizona's immigration law. The list is getting longer I guess.

Now we know the REAL source of this "mat"... ok, who was it?
Thanks! I've been wanting to refresh my maths from college again and this is really useful
I wished sometimes I could pack my bags and move to another planet.
