The one thing I wish is that nVidia would roll out a card with a tv tuner and remote
Nvidia's TV Tuner option is the Personal Cinema. Its not quite "on-board" (it requires a separate breakout box), but it does include a wireless remote. I don't know if it ever really took off though because it doesn't seem to be very "mainstream" at this point... at least I never really hear anybody talking about it.
apparently wireless users are absolutely not welcomed there when a movie is playing. I'm very disappointed. I couldn't even have my PocketPC with wireless NIC on while the movie was on.
Personally I'd be pretty pissed if the person next to me had their laptop/PDA on during the movie. The bright screen would be very annoying in a dark theatre, and the tapping of stylus or keys would drive me mad.
What I would really love to see is basically a version of Windows that is stripped down to basically Kernel level. That should be one of the license options they offer. Then software distributors could build their own "Windows distros" on top of that.
Of course they should also be forced to offer an additional licenses to the bare minimum functional Windows desktop / File manager / Graphics libraries / Audio libraries / etc.
Lastly they should offer an optional license which includes all the extra middleware crap (IE, Media player, etc.) that is at issue here.
If these "distributors" can resell what they license then we could have options in the marketplace that range from "MS Windows" just as it is today, to "Windows Lite" which is the bare minimums, to "AOL Windows with the Real Media Player and Netscape".
you can't install products after the computer is delivered in Windows XP Embedded
I'm sure it wouldn't take much to flip the "allow installations" bit back on. XP Embedded is basically Windows XP with some components removed and that bit off.
will anyone buy a stripped-down version of Windows?
I'll be first in line! I want to get rid of most of the useless crap I'm currently stuck with on my current XP install.
Give me the choice of what I want to install... don't make the choice for me.
Not too far off from the estimates... but I just don't like how all those articles kept talking about $144M in the past tense when the weekend wasn't even over yet.
Quote from the article: We will be able to enter the 'twilight zone' period when galaxies were just beginning to form out of the blackness following the cooling of the universe from the big bang.
It sounds like perhaps we are about to enter another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind. A journey into a wondrous land of imagination. Next stop, the Twilight Zone!
i wish stations like maybe cartoon network would play more original 80's cartoons like transformers
That's what Boomerang is for. Its a 24 Hour network of "Classic Cartoons"... their focus might be a little earlier than the 80's, but they still show a lot of of the cartoons that I used to watch when I was younger.
The new recorders, which are set to hit the market in the second half of the year, will be similar to the ReplayTV 4000 machines but will have smaller hard drives and will feature DVD playback.
You can get up to $150 off a All-In-Wonder Radeon 8500 128MB AGP through ATI's Trade-Up Program.
Basically if you order the card through them you get an instant $50 rebate... Then when you send in an old ATI card or even a different brand of graphic card, they will send you a $100 rebate.
Firewire is mostly an Apple term, although it doesn't seem to be exclusive to them.
SB1394 just means that it passed Creative's "comprehensive SB1394 Certification evaluation" (which is just marketing-speak for saying that it works with the ports on their SoundBlaster cards).
I'm hoping to obtain a patent for "Utilizing the methane producing capabilitites of sybiotic colonic microbes to produce sound pressure waves emitted from the anus modulated by sphinctal muscle control".
If that ever goes to trial would someone need to demonstrate their "prior art" before the judge?

The "bizzare bowling game in Boston" was HyperBowl. That was the $30,000 version, but there is also a home version for only $20 (bowling-ball-sized-trackball not included).

We also pay for the space shuttles... that doesn't mean that I get to take it out for a spin whenever I want.
So NASA needs some Sustainable Computing and they spent $23million of their budget to get it. Where is the problem here?
Is this trying to imply that all NASA software should be free?
any decent security needs to include at least two out of "somthing you are", "something you know", and "something you have".
In this case "somthing you are" is a fingerprint.
"something you know" is a pin number or password.
"something you have" is typically something like a credit card, smart card, security fob, etc. This category doesn't apply to the case at hand.
So, once somebody replicates your fingerprint, all you need to do is change your pin number. Problem solved.

I can't wait to see the next generation rocket launcher in Doom III. Maybe it will be able to launch rockets into orbit?
I think you'll pleased to find not a single mention of Midichlorians in Attack of the Clones.

In case its not totally obvious, those numbers are estimates... The actual numbers won't come until Monday at the earliest.
I know that being able to program a PVR remotely is a big request
:)
That capability has been available for quite some time from ReplayTV... and you don't even need AOL to do it!

Does this mean that he's usually sorting mail and driving at the same time?
No, normally he does most of the route on foot, so he is usually walking and sorting at the same time.
Popular Science also has an article that has a mini-interview with one of the mail carriers who put Segway through a real-life test for 30 days.

Anyone else find it funny that the non apple version is called 'iLINK'?
The only people that call it iLink are Sony.
Firewire is mostly an Apple term, although it doesn't seem to be exclusive to them.
