Sorry Sulfur. I call BS. Firefox has Google search on by default. Not to mention setting my home page until I change it. So, as you say, give people a choice.

This is the first time you installed Firefox.

For privacy reasons, Firefox has the capability to block various ad servers on the Internet. These ad servers have the ability to track you across multiple web sites. By blocking them you keep your web surfing private.

Would you like to have ad blocking on by default?

Why isn't this just built into Firefox, by default? Being an open source application being written by an open source community I'm surprised ad blocking isn't turned on by default.

That's retarded. Solitaire has been around for ages. Also, occasionally I just want people to leave me the hell alone. We may be social animals but we all want to relax and have some "me time" too.

Also, from experience, people really enjoy being the hero. Any kind of multiplayer game makes you just like everyone else. And you know what? Being like everyone else sucks. Sometime it's nice to relax and be the super child with Jedi skills or the child that will be king.

Just an example but I ran a DikuMUD and converted the entire D&D style game to a Star Wars theme. Of course everyone wanted to be a Jedi. So all you had were hundreds of Jedis running around which diminished the power of a Jedi. Nobody was special.

Yeah I know these types of articles are meant to be controversial for the sake of getting nods and shakes by /.'ers, but damn... What a stupid comment.

One of the biggest misconceptions of credit card companies is how they "protect" the consumer from credit card fraud. In actuality, the credit card company passes whatever risk they have in each transaction to the merchant who receives the credit card for merchandise purchased from their site.

In other words, the merchant relies on the credit card company to validate a charge made for product. If that charge turns out to be fraudulent, the credit card company pulls that money from the merchant. At this point the merchant has lost both the monies paid for the product but also the product itself.

Why would the credit card companies even care to create more fraud prevention methods? To them it is a perfect system.
