The Java Message Service is teaming up with the Wachowskis? That's going to make for a strange movie. (Seriously... stop using acronyms for peoples' names. We get enough without that.)
I find lots of irrational behavior on both sides of the religion vs. non-religion argument. Neither side seems to want to admit it. It's just a lot of pots calling kettles black. Both sides have zealots and they are equally annoying. Both sides have people doing good things in their history, both sides have people doing bad things in their history. I wish they'd both stop trying to spread their beliefs because neither of them is making any ground and it's really annoying.
Fat chance that will happen, I guess. Nobody is willing to go first because they don't trust that the other side will follow, and I don't blame them.
I confess I'm not much of an expert on Kickstarter, but they only get their fee if the project is at least 100% funded, right? Isn't it possible that people are artificially inflating their targets to account for that?
Holy crap that is an awful idea. How many new points of failure are you adding to the system? What's the failsafe? If one of those cameras goes out? if one of the screens goes black? Dead battery/alternator/engine failure or otherwise no power to the screens nor cameras? Gloves, AC. Gloves. If you're going to add a filter to the windscreen, fine, but your failure mode better be "the filter doesn't work" and not "the windscreen is opaque."
but is not exactly the same thing as smoking two sets of eyes and leaving the plane permanently pilotless.
I am a private pilot, and you should be aware that without the threat of lasers shining on your windscreen, 56% of fatal aircraft accidents happen during the takeoff, initial climb, final approach and landing phases of flight (where it's possible to shine one of these lasers). This represents approximately 6% of the total time of an average flight. Let me repeat: 56% of fatal accidents happen during the same 6% of a flight.
Given that these are already the most stressful parts of the flight for the pilot, adding stress like not being able to see is insanely bad news. If this had happened at night, it could have temporarily blinded the pilot, long enough to lose control of the plane on the initial climb and stall it out. If it had happened on the final approach or landing, especially on a windy day, the pilot would have missed the runway and likely cratered.
Picking nits about whether the pilot was permanently blinded or not won't matter so much once everyone aboard (and likely some on the ground) are dead because of the incident.
Regarding the kickstarter project, if it's DRM free, then why is one of the donation rewards "three digital copies" -- if there's no DRM, why would three copies be any different than one?
The root of the problem is with the voters that are willing to vote for anybody with a given party label and don't really bother to check if "their guy" has any clue WTF he's doing.
Well, we wouldn't want the other party's idiot to get in, would we?
So don't push against the asteroid. Spacecraft seem to be able to propel themselves in space just fine without something to push against. Aim the thrusters tangentially to the asteroid so the thrust force doesn't push against the asteroid.
Nah, CNN will allow their opinion articles to blame both Bush and Obama as long as it gets them viewers. Meanwhile, Fox will explicitly blame Obama and MSNBC will claim it's Bush's fault.
Because these are all weather patterns that indicate a changing climate.
Actually I was implying that they are setting lofty, unlikely-to-be-reached targets so that they never see a fee.

Several airports have hawks on the premises for exactly this purpose.

Thank you for apparently being the only person to get my point.

The game is still available for sale on Amazon: http://amzn.com/B007VTVRFA
I'm not sure why people keep saying they took it down. Maybe they did, but it's there and available now and the ratings on it are still horrible.
They did? What's this? http://amzn.com/B007VTVRFA
If I were them, I'd do it just because ICANN!
Instead of that, since they are classified as a company, let's give them amazon.company. We could shorten for amazon.com for the sake of brevity.
Obviously he was referring to the new line of lethal graphing calculators...
The difference between a graphing calculator and a time-traveling, shape-shifting death bot is one bit...
Well, then obviously the answer to the problem of global warming is more guns!

Ah, you beat me to it!

First thing I thought of after reading "Texas declares war on robots" was that they were simply using the Bush Doctrine to prevent Skynet...
But... we're talking about sparrows, not swallows.
Does it mean "whoosh?"
