The problem is that even though the car sounds completely fine, the vast majority of people won't trust it once they hear the word "inflatable". Keep in mind how many people drive SUVs because they're scared of small cars..
Hemp happens to be really useful though. Good for most kinds of clothing (they can make surprisingly soft clothes out of hemp), ropes, belts. My shoes are hemp and rubber. All of that stuff would be cheaper if we could grow it here. Add to that medical uses for THC and the huge amounts of money we waste arresting people who are just hurting themselves and it starts to get really obvious that legalizing marijuana is actually worth pursuing.
You can buy and sell gold online, and I think some jewelry stores will buy it (and unless the people you see on TV, they tell you what they'll pay BEFORE you give it to them).
Not all bacteria cause us to get sick. In fact, the vast majority don't do anything (noticeable) to us. The fact that this is so old means our immune systems are probably more likely to be able to deal with it, and since they found it surviving in ice, I doubt our nice warm bodies are it's preferred climate.
It's the current 'big thing'. Eventually people will realize you don't make much money with spam and they'll go back to robbing banks like civilized people.
Another example is PHP. Good grief $A[1]==$A['1'], that is just wrong.
I think $A[1] === $A['1'] will do what you're wanting it to do. What's wrong with having the language smart enough to know that 1 and '1' are the same thing? It can tell the difference between an int and a char, it's just usually not useful.
Seriously, if you're that worried just get your kid a cell phone. If they get lost, they can call you. I got my first cell phone at the end of Junior High, and I primarily used it for calling parents. For my parents it only cost $10/month (Verizon family plan).
Some of us don't see the point in paying $50+ a month to watch one or two TV shows. I know for the last 6 months the only shows I've been watching are Heroes and Dollhouse. They're both ok (probably won't watch Heroes next season), but neither one is worth $50/month. Until Hulu came out, I just didn't watch any TV at all.
Who would've guessed that Windows would go the shareware route. I guess it makes sense though.
Think of it in terms of uptime. 99.99% uptime means you're down for ~52 minutes per year. Rebooting 4 times a year could mess that up.
Ubuntu fits on a 700 Mb CD and is just as completely as Windows. Maybe more because it comes with Open Office.

Except it doesn't mention what an improvement of 10% means (unless you know what RMSE means, which I don't).

The internet isn't just a big library. It's a series of tubes!

I'd just put five 64 GB hard drives in RAID. It's still cheaper, and ends up faster for most things.
Or the other option is we could stop killing each other. Of course, then we'd have to think of something else to talk about on TV.
It would hardly be private industry if they're receiving money from the government.

I wonder if the idea that Ganyemede has a liquid iron core is based on the assumption that only liquid iron cores cause magnetic fields?
Doesn't seem that bad.. a few channels switching over slowly and some bad sound? I don't see the big deal.
Easylist blocks ads. Easylist blocked an ad on his site. How is this their fault? They are doing exactly what they say they do.

Isn't the point of drug laws to keep people from ruining their lives?
Why is the government ruining drug users' lives by arresting them and leaving them with criminal records?
Pretty much any phone these days comes with Bluetooth, and if you have Bluetooth, you can use Bitpim.

Get an nVidia card. It'll work. I heard that the ATI drivers are getting better now too, but I've never actually had an ATI card..
Is it really any worse than "I Googled her"? I except we all are used to Googling things now.
Pretty much anything with a recent video card can do that..
I think it's assumed that we're talking about Linux on the desktop.
