This technology looks like it could be used in palmtop devices. The Sharp Zaurus series of handhelds had one device with a 4 GB drive in it. The palmOne LifeDrive may also have uses for this technology.
But, above all, it would be best in the laptops, both for smaller size and for extended battery life.
What will these virus creators think of next?
Virus: "$200 for your files, $500 for your mouse!"...and later...
Doctor: "I don't think he is going to make it; this virus is holding his heart hostage and is demanding $500!"
Just imagine if these crackers put their "skills" to something worthwhile!

Why should this put a hamper on OSS distribution? Isn't this just Windows trying to be more like Linux, i.e. like apt-get or CNR for Linspire?
I don't think that this really would hurt OSS distribution at all, but would instead provide more of a reason to use OSS.
