"reinstall XP" and "WGA is happy" ought to be mutually exclusive, no? I mean, why ruin a perfectly not-as-horrible-as-Vista XP installation with spyware?
No, the real news is that the format war is over. Bittorrent and hard drives have won. Remember when Napster was brand new and Divx was unheard of? When the masses wake up they won't waste time with crippled optical discs for long.
Think of all those hi def movies on hard drives compared with Bluray and HDDVD sales combined.
Greetz fly out to SEPTiC, hV, REVEiLLE, ESiR, SiNNERS et al. LOL.
So you haven't been back since you were 19. The only reason I visit Sears is their Craftsman tools w/ lifetime guarantee*. Canadian Tire has similar products but I still enjoy using my dad's good old Craftsman stuff.
I'm looking at the Nokia N800 for reading ebooks. They just had 'em at Buy.com for $180 shipped.
Let's see how the features list compares... txt, pdf, html, rtf - yes. wireless - yes. pocket-sized - oh yes indeed. Plus it runs Linux. What more do you want in an ebook reader, besides a slightly larger screen?
In the midst of all this ebook discussion I'm amazed that nobody here seems to realize the incredible wealth of readily available ebooks all over the place, from torrent sites and DC hubs to forums and such. Why bother with shitty proprietary formats and DRM when you really needn't? thepiratebay has it all. Merry Christmas.
While we're griping... I'm still waiting for an "unlocked" version of k3b or Brasero that can burn files > 4GB. Apparently there's no such thing as a Linux program that can burn files > 4GB onto a DVD. It's the only thing keeping me tied to non-free software at the moment, since I have hundreds of large files..
Samsung's Yepp players from the last 2 years support Ogg Vorbis, Cowon's entire lineup supports Vorbis, iRiver too (check out the S10!), in fact I'd have to look pretty hard to find a non-iPod MP3 player that's any good, that does not play Vorbis files.
Thunderbird was OK until a corruption in my gigantic MBOX file really made me aware of maildir's superiority. As for DVD burning... what we need is a PIE/PIF scanning tool such as Nero CD-DVD Speed because "disk verification" (Nero/k3b-style) isn't that useful IME. Currently I use TY +R discs and use a Windows machine running CD-DVD Speed to verify each burn.
Brasero is my weapon of choice. Now that I've helped you, why don't you find me the native KDE equivalents of Evolution (PLEASE don't say krashy KMail)
in fact, forget the blackjack and the internet..
funny thing, I closed the tab, opened the same address and got a 50/100. We even have a cat on the page now.
I just got a 0/100 in Firefox 2.0.0.12. How did you rig yours to get so far? I even disabled NoScript completely for this one..
truth is, anybody with the real name "Dongfan" (FTFA) belongs on the front page of /.
It's just a lucky coincidence this article is related to tech.

The crappy screen is a good reason not to purchase. Check Apple's support forums, look at all the threads about malfunctioning displays (some even without proper coatings?) and you might think twice. I'd have bought one months ago except for the screen issues.
If you don't get the "bad coating" effect then watch out for the halo effect.
Well, that clears up they mystery for me too. Thanks!
New feature request for NoScript: CSS repair function to fix "missing" banner ads..

* be wary nowadays, Sears has apparently watered down the new guarantees
If you have a computer and Azureus then you can easily skip the entire format war and moved into the part where "the consumer wins."
hdbits is like a Tivo for format wars.
nslookup of your URL gives b.tinyurl.com :)
I like the Ron Paul Revolution link on b.tinyurl.com
How long 'til the CIA assassinates Dr. Paul, do you think? Is that the final part of the puzzle?

The problem is that so many people have substituted soda for water.
Of course. It's got what plants crave..
would you mind citing the exact patents which cover poo-free street technology? The whole of France needs to license this stuff.
Too late. I already patented anti-speeding-ticket technology incorporating this shit.
Even worse: it looks like hostforest.co.uk itself doesn't even exist. Could this be some sort of sick slashdot conspiracy?
If they were using MS software it's entirely believable.
