Why on earth would you assume that an airplane/car would be heavier than a regular car? the thing has to fly! Wikipedia says a Cessna 152 weighs ~1600 lbs. That's significantly less than my Jetta. Airplane manufacturers go to great lengths to reduce weight. Car manufacturers do not.
From my experience, a real hearing test takes a minimum of 30 minutes. They have to test all the frequencies for each ear. To do that, they have to find your baseline first.
Word. You currently get a lot more watts per dollar with wind than you do with solar.
I recently put a 135w solar panel on my boat because I didn't want the spinning blades near my head. But a wind generator would have put out a LOT more power for not much extra cost.
High wind and ice on the highway go together like peanut butter and chocolate. Scariest drive I ever did was from Madison, Wi to Duluth in winter driving a Jeep Cherokee. It's a rear-wheel drive vehicle with no weight in back and a lot of surface area to catch the wind. Man, that car sucked.
What you want for MN is a front wheel (or 4 wheel) drive sedan.
Generally speaking, the purpose of the pictures on the screen is to convey a story. Does the higher resolution aid that? My favorite shows are actually cartoons.
People get images at the limits of their perception just walking around with their eyes open.
On the other hand, something like the BBC Planet Earth series would be well served by higher resolution. Very pretty pictures. Still, that is a small clique.
Everyone's list will be different but, for me, I want to be able to play resource-hog games like SupCom Forged alliance. Also high on my list is being able to watch Netflix shows using play instantly. Linux lacks the DRM that NetFlix (and other companies) require. Maybe I misunderstood your question...
I had written "unzips fly" in between carets but something must have interpreted it as an HTML tag or something because it didn't show up! really takes the funny out of that one...
That was exactly my experience with RE4. "What is this shit?" Then, 20 minutes later, I was hooked. I dont know if it was the control scheme or the fun-ness of the game itself. I'll get Metroid next and we'll see if it is as fun.
Still, my PC has faaaar better graphics. I still love the mouse and I play a lot of RTS so, I really hope PC gaming does not die.
You've exposed the reason why right-wing radio and TV programs are so bad for your brain : They exist solely to hold listeners interest. They do it by creating an emotionally charged atmosphere with informing the listeners being an afterthought (at best). It is entertainment only but is dangerous because it deals with policy issues and other important topics that require serious consideration and analysis in an environment that is not emotionally charged.
typical republican... Where'd you get the idea that Google and IBM have any commonality to each other at all? They both use computers?? They are completely different businesses and their employees are also completely different.
But kite-surfers and sailboats have something to prevent sliding laterally through the water when the wind starts coming from the side of the craft. Tankers have no keel AFAIK.
Anyway, I know nothing about kite surfing but I would think it would be hard to sail upwind in one of those. You really have to shape the sail just right to get to 45 degrees into the wind in many sailboats.
The average American commuter's car needs are far, far different than a package delivery vehicles'. I drive 10 miles/day, max. Want to guess how many miles a FedEx truck drives?
You have to strike at the root of the problem instead of the aftermath. A healthy society is a well educated one and that is what OLPC is trying to address. Handing out drugs and food will not help these cultures in the long-term. They need to change their maladapted culture before people will start living healthy lives.
"Playing them produces nothing of value and is only useful for relieving stress or boredom."
Same could be said of Art, Music, etc. Personally, I found inspiration in StarCraft and I suspect it was a strong influence in building my economy worldview.
Just to fill out your post a little, this is an indian company producing electric cars: http://www.revaindia.com/ I think the reason they have not made in-roads to the US are the strict safety standards here.
Imagine a vehicle with no safety equipment - it could be EXTREAMELY light. Think of a tricycle with a battery and electric assist motor. I would drive something like that if there were better bicycle paths in town.
Exactly what I wanted to say. Thanks. No reason to spend more than $800 every couple years on a computer. I have a PC that I do all my gaming on and a Wii for the rare cases I want to play tennis with the wife. I will not buy any single-player games for the Wii.

If they want the chips to run hotter, why not just use poorly conducting heat sinks?

Coming from Germany, US customs might not be so surprised by a stollen laptop! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stollen Hehehee
Imagine how handy Facebook would have been to the Nazis...

"Oww"

Check out NBC.com. Full episodes of Heroes are there.
What you don't need anymore is TV Service. A TV can still be a nice big monitor.
I prefer to be treated like a silk handkerchief.

Maybe they could use the bow thrusters for that? Still, that would eat into efficiency as well.
