Video games can be much more effective, if the player actually gets immersed in the game. Maybe it could also be that horror video games are a relatively new thing compared to horror films. Once you have seen the one millionth horror movie preview, you are like, sure, whatever, it will be boring because the same shit happens. Maybe video horror games will reach that point eventually. Also, obligatory PA reference:

I was wondering about why the company wouldn't lay the line if he paid for it too, and then I started thinking. First of all, they would have to pay for any maintenance fees afterwards that were associated with that portion of the line. Also, they have to wonder exactly how much of a problem this guy could be, if high speed internet would be important enough to pay the 7k initial fee. Not really saying it makes them right, but those are a couple things I thought of that may have influenced their decision.

    2) the money he is paying is only 100$ more than my commute costs. And I guess his house is much bigger and cheaper than anything I could find in NY. So he probably was wise to pay that price.
If house space is that important to you, then gtfo of NY. You obviously realize the tradeoff between living in a high pop area, and subsequently having many more community type things available to you, and living in a low pop area and the associated benefits and drawbacks. The guy from the article should have realized that too. A few phone calls to the local service provider there before he moved would have informed him that he couldn't get the service he wanted, as well as how much it would cost to get something that was adequate enough.

IF they are legitimate companies who happen to have an interest in the best for MS since they are MS certified partners, they deserve the same vote as someone who isn't a certified partner.

Writing something like this should mar his record as a serious scientist.

But from his post, he clearly states he is doing work from his house. It almost makes me mad because he could slowing down my bandwidth by doing work on the same shared connection I'm on.

Yes, the receiver gets a copy, from the original copyright owner, who can legally provide copies to people. From TFA, it seems like what happened was the marketing department was routinely reproducing copyrighted articles as some sort of training tool, without contacting the copyright holder. Script/ad blockers on browsers aren't really analogous to this example, because thats one person's browser not rendering said ads when the material is obtained via the copyright holder, versus a mass reproduction of articles used for training purposes. Caching servers on the other hand, are a better match. IIRC, didn't google news get in trouble for reproducing ad-less copyrighted articles from a couple of news outlets? I would imagine thats closer to the same principle.

The only difference is that the bug guy gets a bulk discount, whereas the small guy doesn't. So in some situations, yes, but in some, no.

Chances are though this is not technically "Top Secret" classified information, and just some sensationalist media, as a few other posters have noted.
