I name all my computers after stuff from 2001 A Space Odyssey
There's my games box called Bowman, file server called Clavius, laptop called Tycho, netbook called Discovery, best of all though my work box called Monolith, because it's built into a jet black Antec p182
say what, Wikipedia could make all the money in the world if it sold licences for the wiki system commercially, all these other sites get a free ride off the success of wikipedia by using their software, charge the buggers so wikipedia can support itself without ads
Dear Be
I recently read the following article at The Register
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/12/07/brit_isps_censor_wikipedia/
I've confirmed that I am unable to access the wiki page in question from my Be connection. Now, there's arguments all over the place about whether this album cover represents pornography or is an artistic statement and I'm not going to get into that here. Regardless of the content of the page it is not the place of an ISP to take a subjective stance on moral decency let alone deny service to portions of the internet based on that stance and I'm sure the majority of Be members would feel the same way as I do.
I'm frankly appalled that a respectable European company is acting like some kind of censoring agency in some tinpot dictatorship and thus it is with some regret that I must pose to you an ultimatum: either restore full access to all parts of the internet to all customers or I will terminate my contract and encourage others to do the same. This sort of behaviour has no place in a civilised country let alone on the internet, which after all, is built on the principle of freedom of information for all.
regards
Snooty I know but sod em, I've been getting crap pings recently anyway
"Speaking of product placement, several in the audience snickered when the movie twice showed the heroine conspicuously logging into the Windows Live interface"
Sorry, they did what now?
Christianity of course, Islam was only founded during the dark ages. Before the Great Schism in the 11th Century the majority of the known world unified in religion
I'd have said that during the dark ages a whole load of stuff got moved back from the science basket to the god basket what with the decline of Roman civilisation and the rise of a dogmatic overbearing (and at the time) global religion.
You might also argue that during the more enlightened era of the Islamic caliphate there was a whole load of stuff in the science basket which subsequently went back to the God basket.

Any process set by humans that even comes close to it? God set up the entire universe and the world around us right? So couldn't he be the mastermind of evolution also? "
I think thats pretty much the position taken by most churches atm
Intel could sell super computers at half the price of AMDs budget range and I'd still never run my main gaming machine on an intel.
I don't care how good conroe looks its still supported by old chipsets (NF4 usually) and as far as I know has issues with SLI due to dodgy old chipsets.
AM2 is the future, as a platform its superior in all but the processor front and as mentioned in the article I believe that AMD have many more tricks up their sleeves with the AM2 before they move to another socket. Intel seems to have all or most of its cards on the table already.
Truth be told it will be interesting to see what happens but my money is metaphorically and literally (since I bought an AM2) on AMD
"Some fanboys still stubbornly cling to their favorite underdog..."
you recon?
surely past experiance teaches us that conroe, like prescott before it will be king of the hill for a whole 6 months before AMD counters with a technically superior product which dominates the enthusiast market for at least 2 years while intel pretend they never meant to target enthusiasts and go back to selling whole sale to people like Dell and the like.
No, as soon as AMD 4x4 comes out it'll be the best thing since sliced bread and all those people who bought conroe will feel mightly silly.
I've just upgraded from my skt 939 athlon64 to a super fast AMD system with all the top components except the CPU for which I'm using the cheapest semperon I can get as a stop gap until 4x4 comes out. Trust me the wise among you will do something similar if you dont want to be stuck with a dog of an intel for the next upgrade cycle.
I'm a physics student at Southampton, I had a look at the damage today, one whole side of the building was blown out and there was significant damage to the Zepler comp sci building next door.
as opposed to what it is now: a thread where lots of dumb ass yanks bash the UN some because *news flash* there is in fact a world beyond your borders and no they arn't all ak47 toting gange farmers, some of us use the net too.
mmm, flamy, I wonder where you're from
Wasn't there an XKCD about this?
de-clawing cats is illegal as far as I know, it's pretty cruel at any rate

Are we sure they're not just 4chaners?
