It's like that in Alberta. Advances classes are the only ones that count towards university, whilst you can still attend Tech schools or some colleges with just the basic requirements to graduate. Though, the difference between a college and university in Alberta is null due to some legislation in I think 2004.
Slashdots insistence on publishing this kind of article makes me question what other dogma they are trying to push down my throat... Perhaps the dogma of the scientific method of following both sides of the debate?
That doesn't seem to work so well in the provinces where the insurance is privatized. Living in Edmonton, with no claims, tickets, and even with drivers training, I pay 149/month. While my roommate who is from Saskatchewan is insured there since he is a student at the university pays less than 90 a month through the government insurance, and he's had two at-fault claims.
Wow, rtfa, a watch battery can power the thing for thousands of transitions, and each transition can last for up to 30 days. Also, think of the other uses the technology could have. It sure is a good thing there isn't people like you running important research facilities.
I was just at the Future Shop on Calgary Trail in Edmonton today, and I could swear I saw a few PS3's. I could be mistaken though, I was more excited by finally getting my DS Lite. I know I've seen them at the the many EB Games around the city though.
That's extremely shortsighted. A lot of areas in Canada only have one choice for landline service. I know here in Alberta it's Telus, Telus, and Telus to choose from.
I don't know whether the recording industry will win but I think it's more likely to happen with a Conservative government in power.
Why would a conservative government in power make it more likely for the recording industry to win? IIRC, I remember reading that it was in fact the (hideously corrupt) liberals who proposed they get the money. (I could be wrong, but I doubt it. I have no doubt the liberals would do that, with all the waste and money laundering present in that party.)
The Hells Angels being called a large Crime syndicate is a common misconception. While some members of The Hells Angels do commit crimes, a vast majority (at least in my area) are really good guys who just like to have fun riding motorcycles.
After reading all the comments this is the only one that I can agree with. Sure this 100$ laptop might be a great idea when you have all the nessessities(sp?), but there are a hell of a lot more important things that need to be done before then.
Or it could just be a, you know, experimental page? I can't believe all of the people complaning of the speed when it obviously isn't meant to go completely mainstream yet.
But then again, insulting Microsoft is the "cool" thing to do around here.

That's rather presumptuous isn't it?
Yes. That's too good for anybody who steals anything.

That can easily be disabled in the Blizzard downloader.

And my 6-year old desktop runs Vista as well. Sure I don't get Aero, but it runs it.
Alright, time for you to get off of your computer and go outside, breathe a little, take a break away from slashdot, it'll be okay.
I think you need some lessons from Mr. Period. It's like you want the english language to suffer.

Can I pay you to never say that word again?

Ahh, okay. I'm from Alberta, I didnt think that there would be much of a difference, but I guess I am wrong.

Wow, this was rated insightful? Slashdots mod system is pathetic.
Typical anti-microsoft slashdot fanboi moderation. Expected.
Ahh, in a perfect world when I get copyrighted works off of {insert favorite network here}, I can fend off **aa members off with a saber.
Oh, ouch, I'm not much liking the guy either, but I wouldn't wish myspace on my worst enemy.
Holy wall of text batman! Geez that hurts to read.

I think thats considered heresy on slashdot. Reform now or be punished.

It appears it is no longer flamebait. Now it's moderated as troll.
