Well this brings the definition of crappy feeds to an entirely new level.
Seriously, i don't see the real use of this, probably costs like shit(no pun intended), and think how weird guests will look at you!
Am i the only guy who thinks that we would have some of the most creative, stable and fun games if everyone stopped doing all this stuff?
Wouldn't getting every person who are using these "make your own game" programs a programming lesson give much better results?

Google Fixes IE Bug

And companies don't do this now?
There will always be bad seeds in whatever industry you want to look into, but they should never be allowed to control the market.
Now i think Google did a great thing here, i'm not sure i would have even thought about fixing it if i was in their shoes, since it's obiviously a bug in IE.
And for gods sake, for those people whining about having to rewrite from ActiveX to other technologies now, do you buy a car without a locking system and then whine when it gets stolen too?
Yes that is a very good point and i do believe this is one of the problems.
Because of the increasing amount of virus and spyware apps on the net we have to use more and more advanced scanning programs to detect and remove them. This is not necessarily microsofts fault, but it is a general problem.
I think my system has went up about 250 MB used constantly since getting WinXP for the first time.
That's pretty cool, i have to use 40 GB to make that game stop lagging.
Seriously though, i don't see this as a very positive thing. Along with games and programs generally we have gone from like 1 GB hard drives to 500 GB hard drives, but we are still using roughly the same programs.
I definately will not be upgrading for Vista, i would rather learn Linux and try to stick with it, or go all out Mac, than have to deal with this.
It's enough of a pain for each link i click in an email to take 25 seconds to open in Windows with a completely clean system using 300 MB ram constantly. I don't want to have to use 2 GB ram constantly and it still runs even slower.
And the large amount of customers with bigger connections should suffer because you don't want to or can't get a better internet connection?
That is definately the best way to kill technology i have ever heard of.
You should be able to choose to browse their sites in a high bandwidth or low bandwidth version, that will work much better.
I have to say that is the wisest thing i have heard for a long time.
I'm a 14 year old from a danish private school, and when i hear about the stuff other schools are doing i am so glad that my parents put me here(even though they have crappy computers!)
Problem-solving is a skill of course, a skill that gets developed by learning the origin of the problem and how to fix it, that's it, it really ain't a hell lot harder than that.
Some schools here are doing things like letting kids do their assignments in school in 5 different ways, like you can go play a ball game and the teacher will show you how it realates to the laws of gravity. I don't see how that will work, seriously, you spend 5 times as much money that could well have went into improving the books and other educational resources.
If you spend 10 years playing games instead of learning maths the proper way do you really think you will get it, or will you think of the game instead? I guess that is individual, but the traditional way has worked here for over 250 years so why not today?
"We're looking at developing some of the softer skills that are needed for the 21st century, such as problem-solving, resilience, persistence and collaboration."
That is just plain wrong, a kid that doesn't know how to collaborate or be persistent enough to solve a problem, shouldn't have extra resources spent on them, they need a friggin lesson where teachers tell them how the rest of their lives will be. You don't tell your boss that you don't want to collaborate, of that this problem takes too long so i will just go do something else instead. So why teach kids that that is ok and a common problem?
Depends on your definition of power gamer, according to many peoples definition it is fine.
Either:
1. Same as a hardcore player, that is, plays a lot
2. A player who does everything to maximize every moment in the game, to reach the goal faster and more effectively.
I usually use 2., and i am a casual power gamer in EQ2 by that definition.
Excact same thing happening here.
I have had an insane amount of crashes with firefox compared to IE so far, although now it has slowed down to maybe 2-3 crashes a day.
However having a secure browser that saves me the time needed for spyware scans, and tabs(damn they are nice, and a hell lot nicer than IE's new ones, if what i have heard is correct)
The thing is, i charge for my computer services, that is, spyware cleaning, antivirus, and all the other errors non-nerds make.
Even after telling them they could save that money by using firefox, they still want to use IE.
It's the force of habit i think, and unless microsoft stops shipping it as standard and integrates it into windows with a nice way to pick it when you install(will NEVER happen), i can't see casual users using it, no matter how much i want them to.
So true
What people need to understand is, that if someone wants to do something they can do with a nice shiny GUI in Windows you shouldn't tell them:
Well we have 79 different command line interfaces for that, but you don't need a GUI, you really don't, seriously, we mean it, and if we keep telling you you might believe it.
Of course the pleasure of getting away from Microsoft outweighs every single little bug and irritating thing about Linux, cause if there is a bug in Linux, people cares, if it is in Windows, it's usually your fault in Microsofts eyes.
You are not gonna get the average chat/surf internet user to change to Linux using that argument though, not before you can show them a nice GUI and then point out all the advantages over Windows Linux has(which by all means it does, i mean, it feels so damn nice to feel like you are interacting with an OS, not a GUI controlling a bugged program to make a bugged GUI for a working program work)
Sorry for rambling:-P
I do not think software patents used in the right way = stupidity patents, i just think that in technology, it is more important that we move on, than having to settle 50 lawsuits before a simple upgrade or a new product can launch.
I don't really think copyright is enough either, it isn't really good enough to protect anything, and will at most protect programs from direct copies.
On the other hand i think that software patents severly limit the possibility of new products that will further technology to be released on the market, which can never be a good thing.
I don't know how poloticians would go about this, but shouldn't there be a new kind of license or something setup for this?
Lol:-P
Wouldn't that be more like a trademark or something though?
Seriously this case is stupid, yet another pointless patent lawsuit with the only effect being yet another blow to technology.
While theoretically this idea would be excellent, how would you convince teens to use this method when they can already write really fast the other way?
Now what we need are mobile phones that can be hacked to shoot lightning at you if you accept a call from your ex-girlfriend.

Fuel here in Denmark costs 9-12 DKR, that's 1.5 to 2 dollars a litre.

You definately might have some points there but would you please back it up? I am a newbie on this subject and i would really like to see some info.
