In New York for example, you're supposed to pay a "use" tax on goods you buy in other states, including online since you don't pay a sales tax.
There's a little block on my New York state tax form where you're supposed to tell them how much you bought and how much tax you're going to pay them.
Many (most?) other states that have a sales tax have similiar deals going on. I remember I was at an auction in New Hampshire right across the border from Massachusetts and the auctioneer stated that how great it was in New Hampshire you didn't have to pay a sales tax on anything and everyone cheered, he conviently forgot to tell all the out of state people that they're supposed to pay a use tax on items they purchase.
DeBeers is headquartered in England. England is part of the EU.
DeBeers engages in monopolistic practices (some the same as the oh so unholy Microsoft such as charging different customers different prices and maintaining prices that vastly exceed their rarity) that encourage slavery and blood/war/conflict diamonds.
I'm getting modded down for a couple reasons, I didn't say anything about how great Linux is, I pointed out that Europe is full of weenies just like everywhere else, I didn't bash Microsoft enough.
Then again I didn't say anything pro Microsoft either, I was just pointing out how if you want to go after real problems in the world, Microsoft is nearly the least of them.
National Geographic just did an article about the Carbon Cycle in their February issue. They stated that this has been tried, but it's been found that most phytoplakton die and decay on the surface without falling to the ocean bottom.
Tactical nukes are useful for large scale engineering, think picking apart asteroids for mineral wealth among other things.
I'm sure I could think up or look up alternative uses for mustard gas and cluster bombs if I really cared to answer your question, these were ones off the top of my head.
Daemon-tools on windows is a virtual cd/dvd-rom drive and it lists itself as a SCSI drive.
SCSI seems to be a convenient place to throw stuff since you can many SCSI devices in a machine, 255 LUNs on 15 SCSI IDs, maybe 16 if you can have multiple LUNs on a controller, not sure, haven't tried, and that's just per controller.
Also in Linux generally you use IDE cd burners with SCSI emulation.
Your Bluetooth link is for Bittorrent, your SCSI link is for furby and SCSI has absolutely nothing to do with USB except for the fact that both are on computers, who the hell modded this as insightful.
SCSI and Firewire however share many common elements.
Quote from it "U.S. plans to invade Canada after the First World War? This is one of the most bizarre stories I've come across on the Internet, and the most bizarre part is that it's true. The U.S. military really did develop a "Joint Army and Navy Basic War Plan--Red" in the 1920s and '30s, and it really did include provisions for an invasion of Canada by the United States."
I agree that it's not that much, I was just quoting their entire statement, the point of which was that slashdot has already done a question like this, the info is not out of date, so why is this question being asked again.
choice quote from this article "NOTE: Due to TREMENDOUS bandwidth usage thanks to this article's sudden fame on sites like Overclockers.com and Slashdot (to the tune of 17 THOUSAND hits in 18 hours!), you may experience problems loading images. If you do, please load the individual images manually."
the article covers building a frame from both metal (welding required) or wood
Google already does the 2nd one on the list Google Search Engine Refuses Business from Gun and Knife Advertisers(warning, site provides a very loaded point of view) and more power to them, if they don't want to do business with someone that's their business.
Q. Why did Apple decide to share all of its modifications with the BSD community?
A. Although the BSD licenses don't require companies to post their sources, divergent code bases are very hard to maintain. We believe that the open source model is the most effective form of development for certain types of software. By pooling our expertise with the open source development community, we expect to improve the quality, performance, and feature set of our software. In addition, we realize that many developers enjoy working with open source software, and we want to give them the opportunity to use that kind of environment while they're creating solutions for Apple customers.
Although many people think that the rather simple BSD license does little to protect the openness of the code, it has contributed significantly to Apple's ability to adapt the code for the benefit of Mac users. Its emphasis on sharing code has also heightened our own commitment to the open development process.
Quick google search turned up Wired News:Games Elevate Hate to Next Level, hate crime games have been around for quite some time, most don't make enough money to interest lawyers and groups that are playing the "victim" card, but are actually playing the "I want money" card.
I'd much rather get my ISOs from a more trusted source and then md5 checking them, than getting them from Kazaa, finding they don't match and then regetting them from a trusted source.
Two banks that I've had debit cards with have fraud protection on them, Citibank and HSBC both provide some type of fraud protection, both of them similar to the type on credit cards ie the first 50$ is out of your pocket, the rest is out of theirs.
Or Return to Castle Wolfenstein where you can play as German vs US forces, or Battlefield 1942 again where you can play as a Japanese attacking US forces, yeah, those kind of games don't sell at all.
Gamespy stats seems to indicate other though. By the way, the second most popular mod for Half-Life is a WW2 mod where you can play as Germans.
Also don't forget that cows can eat things people cant, the non human edibles from corn, like the stalks and such are fine for cows, leftovers from beer making also get fed to cows, a lot of vegetable matter that would otherwise be thrown out if everyone was strictly vegetarian can be used to feed cows, chickens, pigs and other farm animals.
From the way he laid out the question i imagine he's talking theoretical, notice how the number is symetrical and all numbers right next to each other, it's like using the hostname asdf.com in an example
Where are these state run liquor stores in New York? Not anywhere near where I live. (Near Binghamton, which is right on the border with PA and is about 200 miles from NYC)
These days people drive to PA for the state run liquor stores because they're usually at least 10% cheaper.
In New York for example, you're supposed to pay a "use" tax on goods you buy in other states, including online since you don't pay a sales tax.

There are no guaranteed "clean" diamonds.
I'm getting modded down for a couple reasons, I didn't say anything about how great Linux is, I pointed out that Europe is full of weenies just like everywhere else, I didn't bash Microsoft enough.

For some reason Microsoft whose only real crime is too much capitalism while DeBeers's monopolistic practices encourage slavery and for real wars.
Why don't you bounce them back, teach them a thing or two? If they don't notice it why should they change anything.

As long as it only fires one, you're still pretty good, if it fires both, then it was a stupid brain and deserves to die.

Yes, Apple has given back Darwin
and from the Darwin FAQ we find the following

There are apps out there that protect files deleted at command line or even from network shares, Norton has one, I imagine there are others.

yeah, they should have stolen from freebsd/openbsd/netbsd instead
