    It's not just the money, but the the number of skills. New computer degree graduates are facing an uphill battle to get jobs with no experience and unless they lie they are going to not get work. So this knowledge is passed on to high school students who decide to go for a degree that can get a foot in the door immediately after graduation.

    The Constitution is not just a subset of the law, it's the core of the law. All other laws in the US are either a clarification of the Constitution or a supplement to the Constitution. Any laws that are in opposition to the Constitution are considered 'unconstitutional.'

    What is her definition of "hate speech?" If I carry a sign with a picture of Tux and the caption "Linux Rules!" outside of the Microsoft Offices in Redmond, WA. would she consider that hate speech?

    Most of these prizes are political anyway. Reagan, Thatcher, and Gorbachev should have won the prize for ending the Cold War in a peaceful way, but since the committee that makes the decision is mostly made of socialist nut jobs they were ignored.

    I like what Torvalds has done, but after the Nobel Committee have awarded Peace Prizes to the likes of Arafat, Gore, and Obama I no longer believe they live in the same world as the rest of us.

    I agree. Anyone who complains should put up or shut up. Also, it sounds like the complainers would rather not have the information available at all than to have Google make it available.

    Instead of fighting over the domain name, the USOC should pull Chicago out of the running and promote LA in 2016 instead.

    Why? Because LA still has all of the facilities from the 1984 Summer Games, is ready to handle the influx of people, and the weather is better.

    Besides, would you want the world to play baseball (needs to come back in 2016) in Wriggly Field or Dodger Stadium? More people can see the game in LA (56,000) then in Chicago (35,000?)...

    It's a little early to make a statement like that, considering that this is only the year 8 of the 21st Century.

    I suggest to anyone interested in immortality read Michael Morecock's "Dancers At The End Of Time" series (this includes an Elric short story) about the affects of immortality on society.

    Dell, Gateway, etc should pay us to use any version of Windows on their hardware.

  19. Science Finction club libraries on Decent Book Clubs for Sci-Fi Fans? · · Score: 1

    Check with your local SciFi club to see if they have a library.

    If you live in the Los Angeles area, look for the Los Angeles Science Fantasy Society (LASFS). Shameless plug: the LASFS has the largest (most number of volumes) private lending library of Science Fiction and Fantasy in the world. Only the Eaton Collection at UC Riverside has a larger collection but they are public (being a university).

    If you live near Boston, try the New England Science Fiction Association (NESFA).

    If you live in the San Francisco Bay area, seek out the Bay Area Science Fiction Assocation (CASFS).

    And in Arizona, it the Centreal Arizona Science Fiction Sociery.

    Most of these sites (Google the acronyms) have links to other groups that may be closer to you.

    The reason why there are so many people willing to steal data is not because it is easy, well yes it is easy, but because the justice system is to squeamish to punish the perpetrators.

    I don't want anyone to think that they can steal data and get away with it. I want to see some dead hackers swinging from the lamp posts in Los Angeles.

    This will tell the hacker community that they will need to run for fast and far if they want to live to see the fruits of their crime.

    I agree. With the cooperation of Canada, since part of the find is in their territory, this could give us the time to make electric/hybrid/hydrogen based vehicles affordable (i.e. as cheap or cheaper than traditional internal combustion) and stick a knife up the *censored* of OPEC.

    But this is only my opinion...
