I don't recall the argument that GC is "easier" than manual memory management, only more efficient (as far as CPU time is concerned) and faster/less error prone to develop with.
We have considered your offer and present this counter-proposal:
1) Buy Windows Vista or a standalone player anyway and spend the next 12 months complaining at every opportunity about how horrible both are. b) Get over the fact that we will NEVER allow our content to be played on an opensource player (at least one without without HDCP). 4) Praise Linux/FOSS more frequently, your overzealousness isn't showing yet.
WGA doesn't cripple your computer from fully loading in my experience.. it just notifies you that you're not running legit windows and disallows some Windows Updates... get a grip man.
No idea at all why this response is directed at me, especially with the aggressive tone.
It is the right of microsoft to keep their formats overly patent encumbered and closed. That just provides more reasons not to use them. Again, the question was "How is Microsoft stopping companies from migrating their (the companies) existing Windows apps to other platforms"? The answer is nothing.
It sounds like you have a problem with Microsoft not fostering this act and assisting developers with migrating Windows API-targeting code to other platforms?
He's not talking about first-party Microsoft applications. If MS doesn't want their apps to be ported to other platforms, that's their prerogative. He's talking about applications made by third-party vendors that target the Windows platform.
Well it depends on how you define "talking to each other", in some situations you want this to be possible I'm assuming. However for particular ports, couldn't this easily be accomplished with iptables? Sorry for the potential ignorance, I'm not too horribly familiar with ipchains/iptables.
That's curious... I learned how to develop software and build/maintain networks (CCNP) in my US public high school. Was part of your school curriculum related to teaching you how to make broad generalized claims without backing or proof?
Every time you compile, you must drink a shot of beer for every compile-time error or warning that occurs. I see people getting progressively slower (and much more drunk) as the night goes on.
I think you might be confusing.NET's JIT compilation with the way that Java code is interpreted. Check out this link for more information on the.NET JIT process.
Wrong, you can use COM+ to call.NET com-visible(which you set) assemblies. An example of that can be found here.
By the way, in terms of speed.NET has been found to run nearly on par with C++ in many cases, and memory use is sometimes better (although usually similar) thanks to automatic garbage collection.
I didn't know ANY corporation EVER to "play fair".
Thanks for your input. We care.
- Everyone on the planet.
The other way being the slanted, free-of-logic way.
You're right though. It's obviously a terrible idea to pay the extra $221 for the ability to play 1080p movies via blu-ray.

The term you're looking for is "Digg".
In re Napster, 377 F.Supp. 2d 796 (ND Cal 2005)
The above wishes for you to check volume 377 of the Federal Suppliment, 2d, page 796.
The decision on the case was made in 2005 by the US District Court for the Northern District of California.

I think you're referring to triangulation.
One would think latency would be the much bigger issue when it comes to wireless monitors...
It's also in the Task Manager now.

You could have saved yourself about 10 seconds and just typed FIRST!!111

Parent deserves +1000 awesome.

Here you go... performance comparison of unmanaged C++ vs .NET

I think you might be confusing
The value of our dollar however....

By the way, in terms of speed
Windows XP Professional x64 is Windows Server 2003 x64 w/ SP1. So yes, it is more stable than Windows XP home/pro 32-bit.
More than an hundred, just three that I bothered to mention because they interest me (and apparently others) more than most.
