I hope everyone realises that the much hyped hydrogen economy of the future is totally dependent on nuclear energy. If I had the money, I'd invest heavily in the companies ivolved in the nuclear industry. Solar, hydro, and wind energy will not be enough to replace oil.
But if you want to know who the crazies are, it is possible to buy two DUAL GEForce something or other cards for 800 each. So $1600 for the 'graphics card' alone.
That's pretty crazy! Doom3 was probably the last hardcore 3d game I've played, but wouldn't the xbox360 provide a better gaming experience for a lot less money?
have you ever had a thought that maybe, just maybe, some people play other games than world of warcraft? and that some people don't like role playing games at all? and that some people even prefer single player games?
I just picked a fairly new game to illustrate my point. I don't think it matters if it's a single or multiplayer game...
Wow, and for the low price of only $500! Who actually buys these cards when they are at this price? WoW only needs a GeForce 2, and those can be had for little over 25 bucks.
The key to successful Bayesian reasoning is not in having an extensive, unbiased sample, which is the eternal worry of frequentists, but rather in having an appropriate "prior", as it is known to the cognoscenti. This prior is an assumption about the way the world works--in essence, a hypothesis about reality--that can be expressed as a mathematical probability distribution of the frequency with which events of a particular magnitude happen.
So is this more evidence that creativity and regular intelligence do not get along too well?
I'm only replying to your crazy post so that others wont think that I'm one of the Anonymous Cowards that replied.
You might change your "get over it" tune if your grandfather had died from a smallpox genocide blanket, or your grandmother was once raped by her a man who thought he owned her, or if your village was wiped out in a faith-based act of manifest destiny.
I'm not religious, but I run a religion website because it interests me. I also don't take blame or credit for the actions of my ancestors or countrymen. Pride in things that one has not had a hand in is a vice, in my opinion.
I think your wonder bread sense of privilege is showing, mister ohmfree.
I think everyone should be born with equal opportunities. Congradulations, you saw that I ran an electronics website too. Here's a cookie.
I hope that doesn't make you feel Too Sensitive.
Why should it? Maybe you can reply with a real username next time. Also, it wouldn't hurt to not jump to conclusions so easily.
Highscores were a huge part of gaming in the 80's. Even later games like Mario Cart and Goldeneye made great use of fastest times. Competition is great, but some people really don't like playing online games against a bunch of obnoxious 12 year olds.
A patent tht is never used can do no harm, really. If the patent was valid then he would have evidence in court. If not, no big deal because he would obviously have no case in court.
...but is giving out patents without formal examination really the answer?
I think so. This just establishes prior art in a very clean way. If the patent shouldn't have been granted, the courts can come into play. Anything is better than the system in place now.
No offense, but this is news? Go ahead, mod me troll, but it will just prove my point even further that this site has lost a lot of it's credibility when it comes to reporting worthwhile news.
The news is that an innovative game was made in an era when people bitch about not having any innovative games to play. The highscore isn't the story.
It will if you can convince the public school employees that are responsible for spending on school supplies. Never underestimate the stupidity of government employees.
Very true. I guess it's not just how much value the company has; it's also like antiques, where you have to take into account how much other people are willing to pay for it too.
Two fold. But ask people how well they did with gold stocks over the long haul. Or how about pets.com stock? Maybe now is a good time to unload the Google stock, and quit while you're ahead.
This reminds me of the spending spree done by tech companies during the stock price boom of the late 90's. Google has now found themselves with a shit load of cash, and they figure they better do something with it before people realise how overvalued the stock is.Link
I'd say call me Nostradamus, but this should have been obvious to everyone.
Here's a good reference. http://www.uic.com.au/opinion6.html

Your original post had more than a touch of arrogance in it. You were called on it.
He said, PERIOD, so obviously there's nothing left to argue about. ;)

Maybe I had it right when I came up with the iPod Touch, a while back.

I hope you are one of only a few then.
It's a game. And more importantly, a business. They will do whatever they need to to keep maximum profitabiliy.
Right, and by letting everyone know about what shit Blizzard is doing they will become less profitable. OMFG capitalism might just work!
Of course, the Heaven's Gate members already knew all of this...

I guess this could be considered a bio-hack. Hopefully there's more of this type of treatments to come.
I can't disagree with you there.

What do you suggest?

Cause we all know THAT will make money.

Am I kidding? I don't know.

It looks like a cross between asteroids and a winamp visualization.
