  1. Re:Meanwhile, I still have issues with BT... on Comcast Invests in P2P · · Score: 1

I'm having the same problem- and it started the instant as I switched to Comcast a month ago (I moved, and have no other option for now). It's ridiculous that they guarantee you a speed they won't give you and expect you to pay hundreds a year for it. As soon as I get the opportunity I'm switching to Qwest, they're running fiber in my city and guaranteeing 20 megabit (and you actually can use all of it).

  2. Re:Perhaps we should give Comcast a break on Comcast Invests in P2P · · Score: 1

The problem is that they're promising bandwidth they can't deliver, and if anyone starts using their alloted 6Mbps or whatever, they get cut so someone else can use it. If they weren't selling you a service they couldn't provide, they wouldn't have to throttle anyone.

I agree, I'm not really sure why they decided the EEE would be a good testing ground for multi-touch on a PC. It seems like kind of a strange decision, considering that the EEE is mostly meant to be a cheap word-processing and internet-browsing machine. They did actually just come out with a really interesting 3D input device, though it's done with arms and actuators rather than light-sensing capabilities. It's called the Novint Falcon (this is a demo showing off both the 3D and haptic capabilities) and I want one really badly.

To me it sounds like another natural extension of the GUI, along with voice controls. For now pinching pictures and whatnot is a little gimmicky, but it's a great way to get a foot in the door for the eventual rise of a much more comfortable and human computing platform.

I agree. While I don't really think an employee has to be busy doing work for every minute of the work day, they really shouldn't be using company time and resources to be doing a whole lot of personal business, especially any of the kind that would get them fired or arrested. The occasional e-mail or the nightly call home to the kids are fine as far as I'm concerned, but there's a point when it's too much.
