The worst part is, their crimes actually have been proven in court. L. Ron Hubbard was convicted of fraud for stealing money from the church, and was a fugitive for the rest of his days. His wife and 10 other high-ranking Scientologists were sent to prison over their involvement in Operation Snow White. And yet the public doesn't know any of this.
"If you check for availability of a website and someone sees you do it and they reserve it before you, it's fair play."
The hell it is. That's the exact opposite of fair play, that's being underhanded. If someone sees you typing in your PIN and drains your bank account, is that "fair play"?
I decided a few days ago to dual-boot XP and Vista, since one of my devices isn't supported under Vista (its manufacturer hasn't existed for a while). I had to, of course, install all of the necessary updates for XP, but it only took one reset for over 100 patches. It's really not that bad a process.
Yeah, that whole space planes carrying people to Earth, gathering them around volcanoes, blowing them up with hydrogen bombs, then netting their souls with electric nets and taking them to theaters to implant lies into their memories and the souls balling up and becoming people isn't a fairy tale at all. The Marcabian race of aliens planting invisible satellite dishes on Earth to transmit false thoughts into our heads actually happens, and we evolved from space clams. You're not taking an objective look, you're taking a selective look.
I dunno what's wrong with your system, but my transfer speeds aren't noteworthy at all. My computer is significantly less powerful than yours, and the transfer speeds are just as fast as they would be in XP. Honestly, it's probably something about the way you have it set up.
All it's asking is that people try and refrain from heavy downloading (music, movies, etc) for a little while until the lines are fixed. They're not asking people to give up the internet entirely. It would be pretty stupid of them to have a large portion of their economy collapse just so people could torrent.
Actually, coming from a psychological background, the real reason the US military uses video games is to increase their "kill rates". Our soldiers are being trained never to hesitate, and so far it's been working: we have very close to a 100% kill rate today. This is probably a large part of the reason we have so many civilian casualties and so many cases of PTSD: hyper-vigilance leads to paranoia leads to PTSD.
I don't think video games cause people to kill, and I play them often without any negative repercussions, but I'm not going to pretend they don't have any effect on the human psyche.
At least it's completely voluntary and you make ~$400 off of it. Why are people getting upset that Microsoft is paying you for providing them with information? It's not like it's mandatory for Windows users.
He's not facing disbarment because he doesn't like video games, he's facing disbarment because of the way he acts. His numerous ethics violations make the Bar Association and lawyers in general look really bad, as well as contributing to a frivolous lawsuit-happy society.
If you'd actually read the comment at all you'd realize he was saying it's like porn in that it uses so much bandwidth and is so widely distributed. So I guess your comment is a troll.
Sure, sure, mod me down, but I don't agree with them trying to make money off of her name. Sure, if it was free (which it was in website form, and of which Rowling herself approved), it'd be great. But I really don't think it's OK for them to profit off of this. I'm sure many people here would be incensed to find out they'd paid money for a pirated copy of an album (I know this is different, but they're both IP issues), and I know if you'd created a bunch of highly successful books you wouldn't make them public domain either (you will probably say that you would, but honestly... would you really pass up the chance to actually make money off of your hard work?).
Actually, their latest update didn't do a thing about people's unlocked and otherwise hacked phones. Maybe in the future we'll see that, but Apple never did anything about iPod Linux either (Nevermind that iPL wasn't really a runaway success or anything).
Chinese pirates copy everything, this is hardly news. The only reason I can think of that this was submitted was to say "LOOK, THE IPHONE GOT BEAT!" If I could mod the submission Troll, I would.

If pain is equivalent to intrinsic value I'd be rich after setting up my Linux box.

I'd ask for proof, but I'd really just rather see you hit some dingers.
Let me guess... the IQ test was designed and administered by Scientology?

I disagree.
It must be a coincidence, but I lost my connection for a few hours today. I live in the western US, though, so it's probably not related. Still...

Could you stop spamming your stupidass website?

I'm 19 and I use email all the time. Even many of the non-nerds I go to school with use email just as much as they do text messaging.

Diaper sap?
There are plenty of fun and free games online!
"License and registration and the CD in your dash, please" doesn't sound all that plausible to me for some reason.
SecuROM, the CD protection/blacklisting program, is made by a Sony subsidiary.

Well, I'm sure they thought of the same things you've brought up. After all, this is rocket science.
