Not, I would say, a particularly PC view, and doubtless one that will get you modded troll quicker than a quick thing. But I would temper your view with a rather more - shall we say diplomatic? - way of putting things.
Some views are fundamentally incompatible and unless both parties are prepared to compromise, conflict will ultimately result. Full stop, end of conversation. Get together people who feel strongly enough to kill to make their point and give them the means to do so, you probably shouldn't be too surprised when they do. There's no way of getting around this, and to pretend there is is probably the most damaging thing extreme political correctness has ever achieved.
In this case, the conflict is between very conservative Muslims who happen to be in charge of a country and the West, but it could just as easily be between animal liberation people and drugs testing labs.
Islam is not just incompatible with the west but fundamental principles such as equality, freedom of speech, freedom of religion, right to life (for homosexuals etc.), democracy, and a lot more. Its true that some animal testers would go to war with anti-vivisectionists and vice versa, but they would want a reformulation of laws that would apply to everyone - they would not want to prevent certain sections from expressing their view or testifying in court. Islam is fundamentally opposed to our ideas of rights and equality.
This is what happens when any country is run by Muslims. We see it in Iran, Pakistan, Iraq, etc. These countries really are better off under dictators rather than leading themselves, compare Saudi Arabia to Somalia. We will see a lot more of this in the "Arab Spring" countries.
I expect to be modded down by the PC crowd with their "all belief systems are equal" and "a Theocracy can be just as good as secular democracy (as long as it isn't Christian)" comments but they are just ignoring what actually happens whenever Muslims get into power. Surprise surprise they follow the teaching of Islam - from a demented warlord with a taste for little girls.
My opinion is if this thing blows up, it will kill the crew and pollute an area of space millions of kilometres from anything I personally give a shit about.
Just keep the muzzies out of it
Imagine the ground zero hole if they flew that thing into New York.
If you look hard enough you can always find some function that correlates to a single set of data. Like the analogy in a beautiful mind, you can find any pattern or picture in the stars if you look hard enough.
Management says "do X" as fast as you can. Programmer does X and report back. Documentation, like proper testing or elegant design, takes time and thus cost money. It often saves cost over the long term but if the management doesn't care why should the programmer ?
I've been there early on in my career. I had a tight deadline to produce something for the first iteration of testing. I said "its done but I need to document it. I was promptly told "we'll document it if we have any problems with it" and moved on to the next project.
Its capacity and cost. A return from Leeds to london tomorrow will cost £123 off peak. That's just under 200 miles so its chaper to drive. If you want the chapest travel then you would go by coach for £9.50. It seems to me that for the same or less than HS2 they could have longer platforms, double decker coaches (like in France) and get the cost down. I would rather have a 2 hour service for about £30 that I could actually use than a 50 minute one for £200.
I can see a problem with personalised search, but not the one that Twitter mentions. It may polarise opinions. Take two people, one leaning slightly towards centre-right wing politics and the other centre-left. These people might have different opinions on some things, but not much.
The one leaning slightly right will see more and more search results showing that low tax is good, social provision bad, Obama wanting to make America a country like Europe or Scandinavia. This may move their opinion to the right slightly, so they will click on further right wing sites where they will start to see stories about "death panels" in Europe, global warming being fictitious and Obama wanting to make America a Muslim country, etc.
The one with centre-left tendencies will see stories about corporations putting out false information on global warming, how European countries have higher levels of health at a lower cost, etc. but hardly any right-wing rebuttals. He may move slightly further left, and then see searches saying that democracy doesn't work because all parties are the same, how republicans want non-Christians barred from official positions (without the context that it is one or two extremists), and so on
You end up with two centre-moderates moving to opposite extremes.
Nobody says "go f* yourself" to their CO, especially not when the penalty for doing so is getting shot--and if everyone were to do so, the penalty for doing so would be getting shot.
At that point its too late. But if you say you disagree with the conflict beforehand you can avoid being sent. If you are a Muslim you can even avoid a dishonorable discharge.
Yeah, the first thing I do when I'm in an unfamiliar town is start wandering around after I abandon my car. Really, I mean who wants to drive around in a car when you can really experience the unfamiliarity in person?
Actually that's frequently what I do. Often I travel by rail and have to either walk out or eat in the hotel each night. I do have a reasonable judgement about types of area though
For most cars After 80mph driving gets very difficult. A while back I hit 100 on my car (long stretch, downhill, straight, and I could see for miles, and no cars) and at that speeds it was difficult to make the minor changes to keep me straight on the road. The Average Driver in the average car shouldn't be going much past 80mph on even on a good road. The Autobahn in Germany is design for high speeds which makes going at such speeds much safer, compared to the average Highway in the US. Which is designed for lower speeds.
If I travel at 80mph in the UK I am constantly overtaken. I would say that 85 is my usual speed in this car, but when I had a citroen xantia cruising at 105 was no problem.
It would be fun to see U.S. threaten China about blacklisting them. Oh, wait, they can't because U.S. is so dependent on China that it would hurt U.S. more than it would hurt China.
That would be like putting your bank manager on a black list knowing that you will need to renew your overdraft soon.
I find that 3D on larger television sets (55" and up) does work. It is not as good as viewing the same movie in the cinema, but sometimes it's good enough, and I usually pick up the 3D version of a movie instead of the regular one, if available.
But just as in the cinema, you need to settle down to watch the movie in order to get "sucked in" by the 3D. Same as in the cinema, were you generally won't "scan email, skim through a magazine, or keep watching out the corner of my eye from another room.". If you let yourself be distracted every minute, 3D is going to suck, whether you're in your home theater or a proper one.
By the way, I too am curious about no-glasses 3D but I'm not holding my breath. LG is already selling sets with passive 3D glasses, but the viewing experience is decidedly poorer than with good shutter glasses.
Even worse, unless you wear your 3d glasses when reading your magazin, etc. when you look up to see the interesting news item you will see a headache-inducing double image.

Well, they are trying to entice apple fanbois to switch to Microsoft. This is a logical marketing move

It's like the entire city decides to go for a walk in the country at the same time.
Crowds of inappropriately dressed people squashed into every little patch of green they can find.
In the peak district this is confined to the famous mountains and routes. There are many smaller mountains where you can walk and be virtually alone
That's a bit like suing someone on skid row nowadays.

You probably haven't been to much south of Manchester either. There's the peak district, dartmoor, norfolk, The chilterns (the ones that the HS2 protesters worry about), and the south downs to name just a few.
doctors warn that scratching your ass too much, or doing it the wrong way, may also result in Repetitive Stress Injuries.
This also applies to hammering nails, polishing windows, playing tennis, etc. Too much joint strain causes problems - this is news how?
If I were susceptible to RSI I'd have got it from wanking by now. How many slashdotters wouldn't have.

I'm guessing you don't know your neighbors very well.
Or maybe he doesn't live in America

Basing something on crime statistics is NOT racist. It is CRIMIST
Why are police told not to "target" ethnic groups who are more likely to commit certain crimes then?
That means I'll have to walk through a council estate on the way to work or Microsoft might sue me.
If you think that's tough wait to see what they do to people downloading illegal copies of their Eurovision song contest entry.
That's how ANY country normally treats terrorists.
Except Muzzie countries where they throw roses at their feet and welcome them.
...I can cut an average of over 5 minutes per day off my commute by stomping the gas...
Wow...just, wow.
I take my dog for a walk on the beach, everyday, for an hour. If I walk faster, I can be home 5 minutes earlier.
I wank my self off for ten minutes each day. If I do it faster I could come five minutes earlier
Don't you mean 40G (which is short for G-force). A gravity is not a unit of measure.
Since we are being pedants I think you mean g (little g), not G (big G).
