I have to question anyone who gets a BA in Philosophy and can't find a job thinks that getting a PhD or Masters will some how improve their odds of getting a job.
I'll believe that when they (a) join OIN or something equivalent or (b) grant a free license to those behaving in a civilized manner (developing free software, not suing around for patents, etc).
Up to then I'll consider them borderline trolls, regardless of whether "the lawyers told them to do so" (what a lame excuse, FFS!).
Its no surprise given the name of the academy that it will try to undermine others and take credit for their work. This is 100% the muslim attitude. If it is defensive it will be "defensive" in the same way that Al Qauida is - in that defensive means attacking anyone who might get in your way or that you perceive to be against you in some vague sense.
It shows that anti-corruption measures are working. The Russians had to go to great lengths to disguise their identity. In the cold war days they would have just paid some American a few million dollars for the information, or promised some Brit a chance to be part of the glorious socialist revolution by handing it over. Now they have to work for it!
I can't recall a single instance in my life when I had to apply any sort of chemistry-based knowledge.
Let's apply that same logic to computer programming. How often are these kids going to be interacting with computers in their lifetimes? Might it not be handy to understand how those computers work, and perhaps even know how to write scripts to automate tasks, for instance? Which of the two knowledge or skill sets (programming or chemistry) is more likely to have a direct impact on these kids lives?
TL;DR version: nowadays, computers ARE fundamental.
Actually you applied different logic. "Many people interact with computers so it would be useful to know how they work" vs "I can't recall a single instance in my life when I had to apply any sort of chemistry-based knowledge".
The same logic would be:
"I can't recall a single instance in my life when I had to apply any sort of chemistry-based knowledge".
vs
"I can't recall a single instance in my life when I had to apply any sort of programming-based knowledge".
or
"Many people interact with computers so it would be useful to know how they work"
vs
"Many people interact with chemicals so it would be useful to know how they work"
I here that for most artists the revenue is in live playing now and the media sales is mainly to attract interest. Obviously it is different for the few top-end artists but most will carry on writing music for live gigs.
I predict that one of the "great concessions" that David Cameron will gain from Europe will be permission to block porn. They will probably come up with a whole load more things that they won't sweat about dropping so that David can go back with a long list and gleefully declare that his negotiations have been very successful, whereas in reality he won't have gained many of his important targets
10/10 troll! Bravo. You almost had me convinced that you wanted to look like one of those pieces of shit. Their kind are liars and thieves. They have destroyed their own home so they are now invading the US. About 20% of my coworkers are one of their kind now. They steal everything.
Who says he has knowledge of business? Just because he's 40-something? And a PMI certification? For the love of God. Here comes another useless PM.
Possibly true, but from his point of view a useless PM who will be employed for another 15-20 years, moving on with more "experience" on his resume after each project that only worked despite of him.
The Qu'ran is no more violent than the Bible, so you complaining about one and not the other is the very definition of bigotry.
OK - I'm not a christian but I'll do my best to answer. There are two diferent views on the bible in Christianity, Sola Scriptura and Sola fide. Sola fide (as practiced by catholics and orthodox) says that the bible does not give a clear complete and unabiguous message but must be interpreted by faith, divine revelations to certain limited people (e.g pope in catholicism), and tradition. To these christians it would not matter even if the bible contained commands to kill unbeleievers, take sex slaves, etc (it doesn't) as long as the pope or a tradition said it was wrong.
For christians following sola scripture it is a universally held belief that the new testament represents a new covernent. Hence in any contradiction between teh two the new testament takes precidence. So for them all the "turn the other cheek" guff invalidates the accounts of violence in the old testament.
Now for the Jewish interpretation I am really out of my depth, but my understanding is that they see the bible as a historic account of a maturing understanding of God, and that the accounts of the old testament show a young and impetuous race jumping to conclusions. (If anyone can correct or explain this further I'd appreciate it).
A final point - there certainly were some other religions that were violent too - the aztecs in later times spring to mind. personally I don't hold with the Muslim apologists view that if someone else has behaved badly then its OK for them to do it.
This is disgusting and everything possible should be done to - short of marginally increasing my electric bill or tax bill of course!
There are some non-nuclear EMP weapons.
Really this should be done over the ISlamic State
Its probably closer to one tenure-track job out there for every hundred PhD holders, Philosophy or otherwise.
That makes me wonder - how many philosophy PHDs can sit on the head of one tenure?

A professor of Philosophy?
...instead of guaranteeing loans, the government would have to guarantee a college education.
that is what we do. Works fine, here in Europe.
In fact a number of Americans are now coming to Europe to study for free

Doesn't the car have a brake pedal? Maybe the driver shouldn't have a licence?
This is a volvo driver we're talking about

Thank you for the reminder! I did nearly forget!
Its been that way since our distant ancestors found that banging a stick on a log was a great enhancement to just wailing
Well I half believe that article ... judged by its own criteria

You people are taking all the jobs at low wages STOP IT
Do you think that a CEO will pay himself low wages because he wasn't born in America?
Why not also the iPhone, or has this already been hacked?
They obviously already have a hack, or more likely an access deal with Apple
