anyone notice that one of the UI screenshots looked just like WoW, just done in glowing neon, without the gryphons on the end of the skillbar? heck even the inventory slots are on the end and look like bags.
Obviously, transferring financial information over the internet will always have its risks, but the way i pay my bills is the safest. i pay them online, but each month i have to go online, go to the website, log in, view the statement, select a payment route, and authorize a single payment.
obviously, if the company developed a immoral streak, they could use my information and drain my bank account, but somehow i don't see these large multinational corporations wanting the measly sum from my bank account.
well, i used to read a ton of star wars books, and for the most part, they seem to mesh well, or at least, the authors stay out of each others way. That is to say, the ones that write about the times after star wars don't reference/create any events that would fall into and contradict the time/area of another author.
that star wars may have more or less jumped the mynock...
the thing that really aggravates me about Lucas with star wars, is he allowed hundreds of "official" works of fiction to be written, wherein, the authors who wrote them worked very hard to follow and/or stay true to the original movies. These books really flushed out the story and universe, and then Lucas comes along with his prequels, and basically says "screw you all" and ignores all the history and back story that was created on his behalf.
win.
saying boo to the neighborhood cat from 3 blocks away rocks.
i've always wanted to devise a means to create what would amount to a sound laser out of the 3 or 4 old satellite dishes we have kicking around in various heaps.
The shop where i worked didn't search out the data, but in the rare event that it was the first window that opened when we booted the machine (this did happen) we simply left the machine as is, and called the appropriate authorities.
if it does not emit light, how the blazes did we find it? and second, if its has a similar density to platinum, who's to say its not just a big ball of platinum out there? (yea thats the dumb question there)
personally, i would live like that, but the government frowns on the tax evasion it creates, and my pasty white skin does poorly in the sun, so running around nude is really not a great plan for me. besides those factors, it would be great.
HAH! where i live, a day labor can trench about 50 ft in a week by hand. the round here is like trying to dig a hole in a parking lot with a garden trowel. don't make silly assumptions about terrain.
when you make guns illegal, then the only people that have them are the people that don't mind breaking laws. like criminals. you know? the people that rob other people? the people that kill people? for a living? of fun? yea, THOSE guys. good luck clubbing they guy your phone while he's shooting you.
a huge number of people around here have gone to PC's for there registers. apparently, you can get barcode scanners, receipt printers, and card swipe whatsits, all for the PC. true, this is not the cheapest route, but it does solve the problem of converting data or even being able to access the data in the first place. 'course, a few stores around here where still using a archaic inventory software written by a local madman in DOS a few thousand years ago, so they had a lot of trouble with some networked inventory management, but from what i've seen, most of these have finally replaced said software. (mind you, these are small business owners, not chains, so there is no corporate backing to buy this equipment). I would say look into PC point of sale systems, and see where that takes you.

Guess i better get new business cards printed. Not going to become a PI any time soon, so i'll have to find a new side job.
its not stopping you, there are patches.
i LOL'd. Have an internets.

that would be hilarious. on so many levels.
personally, i would live like that, but the government frowns on the tax evasion it creates, and my pasty white skin does poorly in the sun, so running around nude is really not a great plan for me. besides those factors, it would be great.
you forget. they don't know that stuff exists, so they don't want it or need it.
i see, so how does one become a helicopter god exactly? (mighty good jest there)
you sir, are an excellent thinker. you make really cool observations.
when you don't know there is an alternative, then its not so bad. trust me, as long as you don't know you are suffering, then its not suffering.
skinning an animal for food takes like... 10 minutes. and thats if its bigger than a deer.
http://games.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=08/05/26/153222 "if you can watch it and you can hear it, you can copy it." nice try folks, nice try.
http://www.motorola.com/business/v/index.jsp?vgnextoid=20e284c606de6110VgnVCM1000008406b00aRCRD motorola canopy system. can do several mile hops. yes, the radios are expensive, but a LOT less than 10k. Thus, in relation to the cable company's solution, this is cheep and easy.

you make excellent points. i must ask though, do you play world of warcraft? i ask because you called them "crocolisk" not crocodile.
ah, good point, i had forgotten about that article.
no, it appears that they found the link to show that if you are an avid gamer, you are probably autistic. This is explained in the end of the article.
