  1. Makes current equipment obsolete on EFF Comments on HDTV Copy Restriction Plans · · Score: 1

The worst part about this is that all of the HD compatible televisions peoople bought, the ones that had stickers on them claiming they were HDTV ready, will be obsolete.

They all have component inputs and the new systems will make sure that all connections are DVI( I think that is the acronim ). So people will have a TV cabable of displaying a 1080I RGB signal but all of the decoder boxes will only be allowed to have this DVI connector.

I knew a grad student who developed a really cool way to do database joins. He should have gotten somthing for the idea. Since ??? "donated" the hardware he was surprised that they suddenly owned his work because it was done on that hardware.

About 2 years before their IPO the 3 of us were told "we need to put an older face on IT for the IPO roadshow". That would have been OK if the first 3 tries at filling the CIO role didn't completely SUCK. The average CIO lasts for 16mos before they get fired.

I ended up leaving the company because I got tiered of trying to prove myself to another stupid CIO candidate that probably wouldn't last for a year.

I guess I would tell you to do the same thing. Chalk it up to life experience. If the top dog can not trust you because of your age find someone who will.
