I think that at least one qualification that something needs to have to be considered a planet is that it orbits within a certain number of degrees from the ecliptic plane. This new thing out there is orbiting with an orbital tilt of something like 45 degrees!
Personally I'd be in favour of narrowing the slice down to the point where we exclude pluto as well.
