Yes, they do. They think we are lazy and our way is wrong. They believe our media distorts the truth and unfairly critisizes them. They believe people in those crap jobs deserve it because they aren't smart or were too lazy in school. They think they are more free and we pay wayyy to much for stuff. They want us to buy more stuff for more money.

We aren't exactly a lot different. We believe their media distorts the truth. We think they are ideologically mistaken. We "know" we are free and they make wayyyy to little money. We want them to stop working for nothing and stealing our jobs, but still sell us stuff dirt cheap.

I'm not pro tax, but Amazon's argument is weak. They could provide that info adn just list the items as book or DVD and satisfy the requirement. Then the only privacy violated is that someone orders books or DVDs or some other general merchandise type.

Also, people who say it will be a burden to implement tax code for 50+ states into their store also have a weak argument. If that were q requirement, there would both be services providing daily updates for tax code by zip code, and there will be services you could send those tax revenues to with generalized sales data who would distribute that $$ for a small percentage. Neither of these would break the bank for even the smallest retailer. Anyway, if you were that small, NC or whoever won't care to collect the $17/year you sell to their residents.

This is wrong. Most large companies have a large burocracy surroundign job postings and won't spend the time and money posting jobs if they didn't have a position to be filled. Think of it like this, HR is like everyone else, i.e. mostly lazy. They don't want extra work for no reason and won't list jobs just for fun.

"I assure you the only people that care about your resume is HR."

Also not true. I am not in HR and I was looking at a stack of resumes last week for a position that WILL be filled. IF your resume has obvious typos or doesn't list the skills we need then you aren't getting a call. On the flip side, if you list that you can program in every language known to man, have 5 years experience managing Windows 7, brag about having experience with SnagIt or puty, then you are also going into the no call pile.

It doesn't make sense to carry inportant unreplacable information around if you don't have to. A $300 netbook is a nominal expense compared with the costs of travel.

Really though, what software is impossible to backup? At the least you could make a DD copy of your drive and leave that at home. Then you can do a full restore to a new identical laptop if encessary and it won't ever know the difference.
