So I downloaded this VMware server, filled in a bunch of bogus info to get a serial number and now have ubuntu installing in a window on my desktop...
Should I have used the workstation version? And why does it think not having VMWare tools installed is a bad thing? Looking around their site I can't find alot of basic infomation for the lost/.er who is just playing around to gain some geek points.
Its quite simple really, the vault will emit radio waves that when properly decoded will form a 3d model of a length of human DNA with one base pair missing, when the missing base pair is encoded and transmitted back to the vault the door will open....
I tried using CSS to cover the adds and pressing report a few times to try and gte mine deleted, as the function in the profile never worked, prehaps I should do some, er, internet research and post my results as well.
Lets burn some kama extending that analogy too far, as burning and reripping results in a quality loss, so prehaps once you transfer the engine you cant drive the car above 50 mph?
Trains are simple, theres a go faster pedal and a break pedal, stop on red, go on green, oh and dont forget to tell everyone to mind the gap. Even computers cant mess it up...
So, if one persons connection drops, he is the only person who can carry on playing the game? And they wonder why people cheat so much?
They run the games peer to peer, and wonder why people cheat so much? Surely even using a server to connect the clients, even if its not hosting the game could prevent alot of this
Someone give these guys a class on network security 101: NEVER TRUST THE CLIENT, EVER, WHOEVER THEY ARE, NO NOT EVEN YOUR MUM.
For the small site I am working on now, I tend to write functions for logic that return data to other functions that then draw it. The main page includes these functions and is mostly html with a few includes and function calls. This keeps most of the application in seperate files than the layout logic. Ofcourse there is nothing wrong with using some logic in the layout functions to chnage the output based on th data, saves me rewriting code for every case.
The silly thing is they could do this, give web devs 6 months notice before the release of I.E 7 and promise auto update will put it on atleast 50% of home computers within a couple of weeks of release. They might even get away with their browser share intact...
Ofcourse it would require them to produce a standrd complinet browser...
I run a flashblocker on firefox, and most sites that turn up as one huge flash box tend to get closed right away, becasue they either takes ages to load, play annoying background music(most people already ahve music on when they browse and dont wanna be inturrupted you know) or both.
Nobody wants an OS, they want a media player, or an office program. The OS should be as invisible as possible, so if the user as much as thinks the name of a program it appears open in front of them. My toaster can run linux for all I care as long as it keeps toasting bread as well as it did on toastOS.
Well said, I had Ubuntu duel booting for a while, I even got over the thou shalt not access my own bloody (NTFS) hard disks, the lack of MP3 support, atleast 3 differnt methods of changing the screen refresh rate, none of which worked properly. It was changing from the onboard NIC to a usb wireless device that killed it, despite a good half hour surfing various ubuntu sites I still couldnt find any reliable infomation about weather or not my network dongle would work, which drivers to use, or any inmstallation instructions that didnt involve several pages of command line input.
Shortly afterwards I reclaimed the small partition it was on for more storage space under windows and got on with USING my computer...
The summary is missing one, and this morning everyone thought there were 25. There must be a more geeky way to figure this one out than sitting there for hours on end reading boring legal stuff.
"before we know it, Joe doesn't want microsoft any more as he is actively contributing to the codebase on several sourceforge projects. "
Unless everyone on the planet sunddenly get given a few days off every week to spend coding I think not. Please leave the programming to the programmers and not any average joe who thinks that being big on sourceforge makes em cool.

I thought Don't Connect Your Development Enviroment To The Internet was in game design 101 since Half-life 2?
Having used a couple of very bad web hosting interfaces, here hoping this makes providers all jump up and add extra ajaxy goodness.
Though I agree these should'nt really need to do much more than allow you to set FTP/Mysql passwords and set home directories for your domains.

*Cough* Should we give those bastards who bundle annoying toolbars with their web browser any money either?

I write nice valid code for Firefox, then mangle it for IE, the only time I had to break standards for FF was on some kind of image map name thingie.

Now why is
Person -> People -> Peoples
But where does persons fit in?
Clearly 9/11 was more successful that its mastermind could ever dream, 5 years on and still the ripples are as strong as ever.
Uh Brentford is a suburb in London, not a city, makes me scared of going there though...
Even worse, I try the realplayer link and get "BBC World is not available in the UK".. Sheesh...
