    Bloat. Not just in IE, but everything else that wants to give you a pleasant browsing experience, including embedded devices.

    What I find interesting is, it wasn't Youtube that set the standard, after all.

    The data is considered too sensitive for the network so everybody has a file folder with a hardcopy of the report and a floppy in a envelope inside made up for them.

    A rare example where disgruntled employees don't bring guns to announce they quit. They bring magnets.

    Having said that, it's possible that the kind of eruption that causes problems for airplanes is only one possible event of several or many possible events and may be a rarity.

    Having said that, overreaction is a large part of health and safety rules in most western countries, and that's a good thing.

    What's not fine is that airlines would rather have people dying than lost revenue.

    Bullshit. Up until the 16th century, they were more modern than the mighty European tribes. Then the European church stopped killing people who asked interesting questions, and they didn't.

    Unless they were travelling considerably faster across the universe than Europe, I'd say they had the same amount of time.

    At this point it's almost like he's desperately trying to find some way of defining "art" in a way that excludes video games purely because he, for some reason, NEEDS them to not be art.

    Clearly, the freedom you get with the MIT and BSD licenses exceeds that which you'd get from the GPL.

    It's not a different amount of freedom, it's a different quality, with different goals. BSD is "I want everyone to use this". GPL is "I want everyone to get the updates". We can argue about which one is better all day, but unless you understand both philosophies, it's pointless.

    BSD takes into account the fact that all software can be better by using known good code. GPL takes into account the fact that writing good software is not about the code but the process that leads to the code.

    Agreed. Show me one user who will memorize even two strong passwords for you. The more often you force them to change it, the more simplistic they will change it to. Is this what you want?

    If you're lucky, they'll just append something to the end of the old one, thus making the change pointless.
