If you want to be vegetarian, then thats just GREAT (More meat for me). What I really fail to understand, is why, having become a veggie, you INSIST in eating foods that imitate meat.

Veggie sausages, veggie steaks, veggie chicken nuggets, why pretend to eat what you berate others for eating?

  8. Unfortunate state of affairs on Widespread Keyboard Failures on OLPC's XO-1 · · Score: 1, Troll

The OLPC project is a shining example of a great idea, implemented apallingly badly. They started out as an idealist business, and turned into a mismanaged charity.

It has been a total fuck up from start to finish, and their cause should be taken up by a competant company.

  9. It'll be great... on Alligator Blood May Be Source of New Antibiotics · · Score: 1

    ...for about three years.

Doctors will start prescribing this rather than regular penicillin (because drug companies love a new, expensive drug), they'll treat the most minor infection with it (it's all about the money people). Then soon, after we've all been pumped full of the stuff, the clever little bacteria will evolve, become resistant, and it'll be ineffective again.

Still, the drug companies made a quick buck, and people still want an antibiotic that works, so they go find another, and start again.

I've always said, medical care and for-profit-companies, should be kept as far away from each other as possible. Luckly I live in the UK where I can hurt myself as much as I like, and not expect a bill.

"They're not prisoners of war! They're terrorists!", The lawyers cry!
Tell that to the hundreds of innocent civilians tortured (many to death) and held without trial by the Bush administration for YEARS.

    I disagree.

Linux has been around a long time, and it's still nowhere near ready to replace Windows on the desktop, say what you like, 99% of people can't deal with config files and CLI and compiling from source.

Microsoft should however be very worried about the trend toward online applications, Silverlight was too little too late and still isn't gaining much traction compared to Adobe Flex. Their monopoly on the desktop won't be challenged, it'll simply become less relevant, and when a user friendly OS DOES appear, then Microsoft will become a costly option with the same features.
