NZB-Zone has been targetted along with binnews and a couple of others. It is interesting to note that they have only gone for nzb sites and not the actual usenet providers - they appear to have the same rights as ISPs when it comes to common carrier status, but I'm no lawyer.
Isn't RECYCLER just the name of your recycle bin directory? The directory the article refers to is called NProtect that lies within this directory and could cause troubles. If you rename RECYCLER to anything, Windows will automatically make a new RECYCLER directory.
I bought a new compaq a few months ago and removed Norton AV (so I believe) from it as I wanted to go as freeware as I could. I'm not a noob when it comes to PCs and the net, and it always annoys me when I read about how these security holes are going to open up your pc to all manners of naughty trojans and stuff.
Let's face it - 99% of these infections come from stupid users who don't have a firewall/av protection in the first place (a trojan still has to come in somehow and a good firewall and AV should be able to stop it/grab it as it comes in piggybacking on whatever). The same users are the people who click on any attachment in an email whether or not they trust the sender, visit porn websites or warez/mp3 sites, download Smilie Central type things because they look "cute", still use unpatched pcs and IE with no pop up blockers/spyware stoppers...well, you know the deal.
Christ alone only knows if I have this vulnerability, but you could drive yourself crazy worrying over every security hole that appears. Just use the net wisely and you should be fine.
"your chances of catching a computer virus or a handful of invitations to unspeakable sexual acts is much greater than finding what you were looking for in the first place"
- only if you are an idiot who doesn't read up on how to use Usenet properly in the first place! With NZB, Usenet is a dream.
the term is no longer really relevant. Contracts can be broken as easily as they are made these days. I could give anyone a piece of paper saying "I own everything you have" and if they signed it then by contract law their stuff is mine. Of course, the person I have duped into signing this contract could then go to court and say, "This contract was obviously unfair" and the judge would more than likely say that yes it was, and rip the contract up.
Same goes for EULAs that are obviously designed to pull one over on the user. Something as malicious as a keylogger (whilst used in a commercial sense or not) could never hide behind a EULA. Let the dicks that code these things take anti-spyware companies to court. All the anti-spyware people have to say is "this software could be used to steal personal data in a direct disregard for Data Protection Acts worldwide" and voila - Judge goes all mental over Retrocoder's sorry ass.
just my twopenneth there.
Obviously you have no legal right to an acre of moon, but it's more a romantic gesture/fantasy for a loved one. How many romantic novels have the heros saying "I'l give you the moon and stars?" to their beloveds. Well, now you can do it to, but include an acre of Mars, Venus and the odd star too.
So all those moaning "It's a scam" maybe you should get out more, meet a girl, buy her a romantic gift and maybe, just maybe, you won't be living with your parents at 30!
I have an HP (twe months old), I can't say that it is full of spyware. Yes it has Realplayer on there and it did have a dial home for the ATI graphics board, but nothing else. Realplayer is deactivated until use and one click with Hijackthis removed the dial home crap.
It's mostly full of useless shite that you probably will never use like iTunes and PCHelp. Besides, a good firewall like Kerio (fantastic) will always tell you if something is trying to dial home or even playing about within your system.
And use Firefox or an IE based browser that doesn't allow BHOs like Deepnet and most things that find their way on your pc should have little or no effect.
IMHO spybot finds things that half the time ain't there. Adaware is the better of the two.
180 solutions should burn in hell. I remember getting their shit back in my win98 days.
The Revolution supposedly has 4 Gamecube controller ports built in it. Maybe Nintendo's whole idea is to have the CDi-alike controller as the main controller, but for games that would benefit from a standard setup (ie, driving games, fighting games etc) then maybe you'll be able to use the gamecube controller to play them. After all, the graphics on this baby are probably going to compare well with the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, so Nintendo would be fools not to want people to be able to play standard games on them that generally show off the graphical capability of the machine.
Try Deepnet Explorer - go on give it a go. http://www.deepnetexplorer.com/
Yes. it's based on IE, but doesn't allow those nasty BHOs and the content filter is superb - you can set it up to stop anything you want. No more.exe or.cab files on drive by downloading.
Plus an excellent popup blocker and a phishing site warning tool too.
Of course, the easiest way to not get affected by drive by downloading, even with IE, is not to go on porn sites or warez sites in the first place.
Big plus: Roboform works ace on it! I used to have Roboform on Firefox on my old machine, but now I can't get the extension to work properly. BOO HISS!
Actually phishing databases aren't new. The browser Deepnet Explorer http://www.deepnetexplorer.com/ [www.deepnetexplorer.com] already has a phishing database, which is quite effective.
and threatened them due to the Oil Cartels worry over Soya Beans taking over the world and eating into their profits. Or am I just becoming Dan Brown?

and NO ONE has got a freakin' space in it! Trolling time over. I was a mod yesterday, today I'm a nobody again.

unless they start using screen grabbing too, which sometimes happens.

Eek - slow speeds, millions of queues, and the spyware, my god man, the spyware. Stick to newsgroups.
Oh if only. It is an unquestionable truth that when searching for lyrics on the interweb you are bound to pick up a piece of malware.
