Actually, the limit as x approaches 0 of f(x)=1/x is NOT infinity. The part of the definition of a limit says that the left and right hand limits (x -> 0- and x -> 0+) have to be equal to each other.
lim f(x) = +inf
x->0+
lim f(x) = -inf
x->0-
The limits do not match, therefor there is no limit x -> 0 of f(x) (approaching from both sides)
b) the "joke" was not funny - a complete slashdot-esque cloned comment that has been heard 1000 times before
c) the "joke" was less funny (less funny than not funny) because it didnt even apply
When you have droves of morons telling the same joke in every story no matter what it is, it gets redundant. Also, the fact that it was supposed to be a joke means nothing in the defence of it.
Yes, but why rely on a system designed by another country? If the EU or whatever developes their own they can have complete control and wouldnt be controled by the US whenever they decide to turn it off for whatever reason.
I probably shouldn't say things suck when you obviously havn't tried. Even if you did try, you were probably too closed minded and impatient to even learn properly. So what do you base your claim on? absolutley nothing? Yah, thats right. You provide no reason for why it sucks (except that nobody posts here). This is a linux-oriented site; it would be expected that not many BSD users would post here. Also, you post as an anonymous coward which basically nullifies anything you say automatically.
Oh, and let me get this straight. You connect nobody posting here as nobody using BSD. And under your logic, nobody using BSD means it sucks because nobody is developing. This is faulty logic, oversimplification. In fact, you are obviously trolling. You are making these false connections to get a rise out of people and to spew your insecurities. Please take your moronic hate-filled uselessness elsewhere.
I already hear them screaming, "That's like stealing precious BSD software for Linux!"
The only main problem with that statement of yours is that you are stupid. The only way you can "steal" BSDL code is to remove the copyright notice from either the source or not include it in the binary distribution. Even then it is not considered "stealing". Just look up the definition of "steal" in the dictionary before you post stuff like this. Its more commonly Linux people talking about "Microsoft stealing FreeBSD code". So please, until you know what you are talking about do not spread this kind of FUD around.
Ha! China can't even feed it's own people, much less pose any sort of threat to The Superpower1. !
Are you completely dense? What the fuck does feeding people have in common with your military? Did the possibility of them just spending their money on military and not giving a crap about the population occur to you?
The Roman Empire was much larger and powerful. It lasted a lot longer than the US, had more land, and more of the worlds population at that time. If you are talking about sheer power over their enemies, the Roman and British empire both had way more power. For hundreds of years the British and Roman armies/navies remained undefeated. The US cannot claim to that.
Of course, only one is still a Superpower
That is irrelevant. Do you think the US is going to maintain its "position" forever? All empires in the past have come to an end. The US power has only been around for 70 or so years, it is not going to last forever.
The quality of code in a project can be measured by the number of bug reports...
Well, thats complete bullshit unless the project you are comparing it to are exactly the same. You cant compare mozilla to any other web browser with bug reports like that unless they have all the same features. Even then, it is still not a good idea to use this as a benchmark.
Yes, but they could be managed by the voltage instead of RPM. I assume they must have some mechanism for regulating the RPM since they can play both big and small CDs. Too bad i am not into electronics (just computers) really.. then i could probably find a schematic and read the damn thing to find out how it actually works. Who knows, it be done by mass, or friction, or something completely off the wall.
Yah, I wonder how that would work. If you had less CD, it motor would probably just go faster and not save any energy. Can CD drives manage the rate at which the motor spins? If they could, I bet that would be the only way which it would save energy.
You are giving one scenario out of a possibly millions. If it wasn't for the reverse engineering of Xing DVD player, we probably wouldnt have Free DVD players now. Do you think that the average consumer can reverse engineer Xing and learn how it works? What if we didn't have the luxery of Xing? I bet there would only be a handful of slashdotters even capable of doing such a thing. I suggest you start speaking from your brain from now on instead of your ass.
Why the hell should I be liable for someone elses mistakes? Sure, you shouldn't lend cars to people who speed. However, thats not the point. You shouldnt HAVE to sue someone for that. You just dont understand do you?
You -are- responsible for whom you lend your car to
So I am responsible for another person's actions? Ok, FUCK THAT. It defies logic completely.
Your speeding vehicle is a serious threat to anybody else on the road. People die from being hit by cars. Those are facts.
Yes, I have no dispute about that. However, its the method they use. Setting up cameras completely undermine our rights. Guilty until proven innocent? Um, no... its the other way around!
My ISP (DCCNET, Delta BC, Canada), uses dynamic IPs. However, the DHCP servers must have a MAC address memory or something because it will assign me the same IP address all the time (and its not a feature of my dhcp client). However, if I take too long to run the dhclient it will assign that IP to someone else. It's still dynamic, but not completely. No filtering of anything as well. Its metered but they actually never charge you when you go over your limits.
Oh, by the way
f(x) = 1/x
lim f(x) = +/- inf
x->0
Is NOT correct (any calculus book that says so is wrong)
Actually, the limit as x approaches 0 of f(x)=1/x is NOT infinity. The part of the definition of a limit says that the left and right hand limits (x -> 0- and x -> 0+) have to be equal to each other.
lim f(x) = +inf

Yes, but doesn't finding the inner workings of the Universe through this manner violate God's IP and thus is illegal under the DMCA?
The key word here is Canada.

You'll be on hiatus till about November next year at the very least

Yes, and everyone knows that /. reports on international sporting events! Look out espn!
Apple doesnt make anything other than supercomputers :P

So, you mean all gamers are going to become valley girls in the future?
But your honour, I didnt decrypt it. I encrypted it again!

"ruthless Cossack hackers."
Hopefully they dont bring their horses along
Well, its not that I am not a nerd, its that I havn't read up at all about DHCP
So you sue the individual you lent your car to.
