Let's see... You downloaded a microsoft public beta from a p2p net without checking ms's website for any existance of the beta. Then just because the icon looked like a m$ icon you figured it was safe with no virus scan? If you purchase this BEAUTIFUL florida swampland I have I bet your files will be restored and word 2004 will work fine
I've been a Q/A engineer for about 6 years now and I love it(my current job). I've done QA in a situation like yours and it is mind numbing but it doesn't have to be. In a smart company with a decent QA team the challenges are just as great as a development team (sometimes more). I do a lot of scripting and I have to understand our products as well as the developers, at least in a blackbox setting, to find all the nasty hidden corner cases. Plus I get to break stuff and get paid. For anyone else looking at QA keep in mind there are jobs that suck in any area.
It's just funny, if you don't like it move on to the next story! SHEESH why do people who don't find a particular story interesting always think everyone else shouldn't either!
I had the same problem, sleeping through classes/Finals/Work/Dates. Not exactly what you were looking for but I got an alarm for the deaf which worked great(I didn't have this exact model but you get the idea). you can put it in your pillow. I used to wear a sock to bed and keep it in there. It never failed to wake me up.
Math geeks (like me) will love this. I've been wanting a calculator for years (since the TI-92 came out) that would do RPN and Symbolic algebra. I doubt the average user will want a calcuator like this, but a whole lot of math/physics/engineering/Chem geeks will be saving their pennies.
I'm looking forward to switching away from my sprint service mostly because dealing with their customer service, when you can actually talk to a person, is a pure nightmare. Anyone recommend an alternative with a decent CS perspecive?
This might have been true if there wasn't an OS monopoly. Microsoft has no truly compelling reason to stop writing buggy software. 90% of the software market will use thier stuff regardless. Viruses apply to 'survival of the fittest' models, which unfortunately doesn't apply here.

Could this include the fact that all video games seem to come out for exactly the same price? (Please don't flame, I don't know if this is SEC jurisdiction. That's why I'm asking).
I would guess, since you haven't played games in a long time you also haven't kept up on the gaming hardware, since the only reasons to have the latest and greatest video cards is gaming. What are you running? This makes the difference between a recomendation of Spinter Cell versus say red alert or even half life if it's been that long.
you're right, unless you're programming 3d conic sections are probably not all that interesting to you, but what about linear algebra? Try optimising any reasonably sophisticated data structure with the basic rules there. You can program without math, it's just not likely you're programming well.
Do whatever you want. Just because you can't decide which rants you want to do doesn't make contact info any less usefull./. isn't here to lead you, just to inform. If you wish to ignore a particular article then believe me, people would rather hear your silence then your sarcasm.

Presumably if you are using your Xbox to crack open coconuts you can just continue using the one you have. If you're not using an xbox to crack open your coconuts then just continue using whatever you have been.
Language is determined by the people who use it. Give it up. Hacker has come to mean someone who cracks networks. Rather than arguing some syntactical dogma why not try to make a coherent point.
Given that you have been quoted as saying your 'hacking' was wrong to do. How do you feel about being perhaps the most notable icon of the hacking community?
He said his mom, not A mom.
perhaps (probably) nothing, but not to run one on a file you downloaded?

I can just imagine the flood of anti-spam email in Governor Locke's Inbox.
Sometimes irony is so ironic.
FINALLY I say to myself. "I'm not going to let them get me this time! It's all a facade" and then you go and post a real story!
