I think you did get this one wrong. It's Microsoft's fault for releasing an OS that is the security equivalent of swiss cheese. . . . or maybe it's both?
They should allow Google Voice on the iPhone, right after Google addresses the valid privacy concerns exposed 2 weeks ago.
It's not their job to make OS X compatible with hacker computers. And they have a valid concern in blocking it, to protect their user experience and reputation.
Unblocked on a PC? Are you kidding me? Try running unblocked there Einstein. No firewalls, no anti-virus, no anti-spyware. THAT would be unblocked. Try that on your PC and see how long before you've been violated.
I hope you got paid to post THAT! Your post is so ridiculous it defies explanation. The issues you refer to are all EXTREMELY limited in scope, but like any manufacturer they do have some issues. Fortunately they take care of their customers with industry leading (for several years now) customer support and customer satisfaction.
You're so full of shit I don't know where to begin. If you really believe "the apple crowd who buy Mac just for exclusivity of it all." myth then you are truly deluded.
"it was on Ballmer's watch that the Xbox appeared, and grew into a real success."
I guess it's a success if you don't count the fact that it's losing money for the company. The x-box is a non-profitable product line for MS. Like Zune. Like Plays for Sure. . . . etc. I can't think of any product that Ballmer has introduced in his reign that is making money for the company. They are trying, but failing to branch out in new directions. Windows and Office are their entire existence and both are being rendered less powerful by an emerging Apple and an open source movement. Microsoft has peaked and is on the slow decline downhill.
A bit of an apples to oranges comparison I think. In previous versions (before Snow Leopard) I was not ever nagged about Quicktime Pro, and it since QT Pro is not installed by default this point is false. Now with Snow Leopard the differentiation between QT and QT Pro seems to have disappeared.
With regards to MobileMe, you are asked when you first get on your Mac and then never again. So MobileMe is not running by default either and it only asks once.
I guess my point is both of your points are blatantly false and easily recognizable as such by anyone who has actually used a Mac. Nice try on the FUD though.
And yet iTunes "just works", and is easy to use for the average consumer. Maybe they DO know what they're doing? . . . . .
Obviously it's more bloated on Windows because it has to install supporting software that isn't naturally present on Windows (but probably is on the Mac). I just use a Mac and avoid the issue altogether.
Sorry, I agree with tthe poster. Most management is incompetent. IT are treated like dirt. Jobs are being given to Indian contractors instead of local IT resources.
If you don't have that experience then I'm happy for you, but I would say you are the exception and not the rule. I don't think he/she has an "attitude" so much as disgust at what is being observed every day at work.
The executive is slightly different than the union worker. The union worker probably does not have a university education and so makes less than the executive, while taking shit for 40 years. The executive has a university eductation which taught him/her to blow the right persons while climbing the corporate ladder. The executive took shit for maybe 10-20 years and now makes a much larger income because they had to sell their soul to the company to get where they are.
I'm in the middle of a 2 year plan to get the heck out of corporate American. I'm building a photography business from the ground up and I will not only eventually get out of the cattle-call of IT and corporate America, I'll be making 2-3 times as much money and ENJOY myself doing it. I think you are smart to be thinking of a way out of IT (you're generally treated like shit anymore and contract workers from India are going to own that market eventually), but you should also see if you can find a way out of working for someone else and work for yourself instead. Hopefully that's possible for you. I am not there yet, but being part way down the road towards the goal makes me excited for the future.
Don't be fooled! The world is still ending in 2012. They just want to fool you so you passively face the end of the world like comforted sheep. We should be rioting in the streets right now because THE END IS NEAR!!!!!
As I mentioned before, I wasn't arguing Apples innocence or guilt in this or any other situation. Just making the point that this accusation by Nokia has no bearing on whether Apple is benevolent or not.
1. It's the 4th or 5th ALLEGED infringement story. 2. This is NOT an example that Apple is not a benevolent company (the whole point of my original reply). I'm not arguing their innocence one way or the other, but to say that being sued for patent infringement is an example that Apple is not benevolent is ridiculous. Try to understand that a lawsuit has been filed, not a judgment rendered. Sometimes I wonder about the logic of you iHaters.
Yeah I do, but my observation was relevant, whereas yours was not. Where the hell was Nokia's lawsuit 3 years ago? It's only when they are starting to feel the pinch from the iPhone juggernaut that they pull the patent lawsuit out. It doesn't take 3 years to determine this patent infringement.
If you think that the fact that lawsuits are coming out against a huge, profitable, high profile company somehow makes them guilty in all the lawsuits then maybe you should go back to school and learn something. I'm not insinuating Apple is perfect, far from it, but Apple has had a phone out there for 3 years and it's only when Nokia starts bleeding do they come at them? If you can't compete, litigate.
Nice try there troll, but it doesn't hold water. Ever heard of Firewire? Or that now light wave connector in the news a couple of weeks ago? Or how about all the innovation involved in creating the industry leading computer hardware designs. Sorry, but you're full of shit!
The iPhone was instantly THE phone to beat when it was unveiled at MacWorld in '07. There was no time to hype or market anything and everyone instinctively knew this was now the phone to beat.
"Their UI really isn't much better than their competitors"
- Sorry, but I completely disagree with you. It blows away any phone I've ever used.
Explaining to you why the poster (and people in general) like the iPhone is a useless exercise. It's like explaining to you their preference for the color blue. Just because you hate blue doesn't invalidate their preference.
The iPhone was not a breakthrough device because every other phone could already do everything the same. It drew gasps from people in the audience because they knew this blew the doors off every other phone out there. If you can't see that big picture then you're wasting everyone's time.
"The Pre isn't a challenger not because of the network, but because people were waiting for the much better HTC Touch Pro 2."
- Yeah, . . . that's why it wasn't a challenger. At what point is the HTC Touch Pro 2 buying surge going to hit?
I think you did get this one wrong. It's Microsoft's fault for releasing an OS that is the security equivalent of swiss cheese. . . . or maybe it's both?
I'm not dumb enough to have bought a Pre.

Unblocked on a PC, give me a break.

Now, let's return to your FUD train. . . .
You're so full of shit I don't know where to begin. If you really believe "the apple crowd who buy Mac just for exclusivity of it all." myth then you are truly deluded.

The TRUTH is exactly what the original poster said, it's actually been studied. The other truth is that you must be somewhat threatened by them.

Sexual exhaustion? . . . . Were you pitching or catching?

Okay, maybe I'm slightly bitter. . . .
I'm in the middle of a 2 year plan to get the heck out of corporate American. Corrections to your "observations"
1. It's the 4th or 5th ALLEGED infringement story.
2. This is NOT an example that Apple is not a benevolent company (the whole point of my original reply). Personally I would be concerned about all of it rather than just trying to shine a light on one nation's f'ups and ignore anothers.

And to build on "amake's" clarification, AAC is not Apple's format. It is an open format that Apple happens to use.
Mac OS X. Updgrades from 10.3 -> .4 -> .5 -> .6 ALL worked flawlessly.
Maybe your las sentence should be "they probably shouldn't be anywhere near a Windows computer in the first place'.
The iPhone was instantly THE phone to beat when it was unveiled at MacWorld in '07. There was no time to hype or market anything and everyone instinctively knew this was now the phone to beat.

Excuse me, but you know what he meant, so quit being a prick.
