  1. WHAT!!??!! on Firefox 3.6 Locks Out Rogue Add-ons · · Score: -1, Troll

This is another attempt by the Responsible Republican establishment to silence the voice of Sarah Palin, and ignore the wishes of ordinary Americans who want to put God back into the Constitution that he wrote!

  2. Re:You're playing their game on Become Your Own Heir After Being Frozen · · Score: 1

Then... You can't see the Gaiman quote?

  3. Re:You're playing their game on Become Your Own Heir After Being Frozen · · Score: 2, Insightful

The whole scheme is being run by the same banks and insurance industries that have served all of us so well?

    Pull the other one.

    It's got bells.

Why do you want to come back, anyway. You've wasted 20-35 years of your life in vanity and no real effect, so far. What makes you assume this will change after napping on ice for 150 years?

Then you have an eternity of half-finished Lego projects and failed relationships to look forward to - without every really wondering why you exist at all.

  4. NOT USABLE IN USA on Hackers Fail To Crack Brazilian Voting Machines · · Score: 1

For a system to be adopted in the US, it needs to be closed source, proprietary and subject to the anti-tampering and reverse engineering provisions of the DMCA.

Fraud and covert manipulation are essential "checks and balances" in the American system, ensuring that the interests of minorities like banks, insurance, pharmaceutical and petro-chemical industries are protected from the tyranny of the majority.

  5. Cringeley Amuses on The Space Garbage Scow, ala Cringely · · Score: 3, Insightful

I thought they were just in the early stages of establishing a ring-world, in terrestrial orbit. Oh well...

There will of course, be no such mission, headed by NASA, or any other fraction of the Federal United States. That banana republic operates on such a scale, only when there is substantial room for contractor and supplier rip-off. If Cringeley can figure a way for DynaCor to pocket a billion on the side, instead of increasing fuel efficiency in spaceflight? It'd happen next year.

  6. Re:Obviously... on eBay For Millionaires · · Score: 1

I think it's the IRS or FBI. A sting op.

  7. Re:Not Nerd or Geek News on eBay For Millionaires · · Score: 2, Interesting

Heck. This site is a stealth something. I don't know what they're up to - but it's not what it appears.

"Hey, Mr. Multi-Millionare! Click stuff that lets me know your net-worth, on my quickly built Drupal site!"

  8. Tell the Guild on The Languages of "The Office" · · Score: 4, Informative

This article is about the sociological maladjustment of screenwriters.

It has nothing to do with real dynamics, or actual language used by anybody.

  9. I Hate ROCK Music on Synthetic Stone DVD Claimed To Last 1,000 Years · · Score: 4, Funny

  12. Re:Santa Cruz, California on EMI Sues Beatles Usurper Off the Net · · Score: 1

I mean, if I said I was Emperor, just because some moistened bint lobbed a scimitar at me, you'd say I'm barmy!

  13. Re:Evacuate this universe! on LHC Shut Down Again — By Baguette-Dropping Bird · · Score: 2, Funny

The unimportant aspects of reality appear to be essential. The essential aspect is both invisible and omnipresent.

It is a circle, who's circumference is nowhere, and who's center is everywhere.

I could go on, but I assume you aren't really listening, and would be just as dismissive.

  14. Re:Santa Cruz, California on EMI Sues Beatles Usurper Off the Net · · Score: 1

    Empty or full?

    Full? Of what? :-)

  15. Re:Evacuate this universe! on LHC Shut Down Again — By Baguette-Dropping Bird · · Score: 1

The universe tolerates paradox. It IS one. It is our mind, which cannot simultaneously reconcile to apparently contrary propositions. Through egoism, we assume the universe to conform to the limits of our (un)consciousness.

The problem with people, in general, is they believe with little questioning that what they think is true.

Nothing you think is true. In fact, your thoughts are gone, one moment after you've had them - phantom ephemera, poised between memory and anticipation.

  16. Re:Santa Cruz, California on EMI Sues Beatles Usurper Off the Net · · Score: 1

Yes. The water. Flowing from the springs which feed the Chalice Well, where Joseph of Aramithea conceal'd the Holy Grail. Where, still submerged, lies the Lady of the Lake, holding aloft a shining, scabbardless sword, her arm clad in pure white Samite.

  17. Re:Santa Cruz, California on EMI Sues Beatles Usurper Off the Net · · Score: 1, Insightful

Yes. I suppose you are right. I have spent too much time in all of these places. What Glastonbury lacks is a University, or it would take some of the California tinge.

I like your nick. I wore a Homburg for years, when I was too young to carry it of, really. Now I am ageing, I suppose I could go for it, again - but the wife would not approve...

Do you know the minor-hit by Procol Harum? Or is that too Glastonbury/Berkeley :-)

  18. Re:Santa Cruz, California on EMI Sues Beatles Usurper Off the Net · · Score: 1, Redundant

Or Berkeley, California. Or Glastonbury Somerset (festival or no.) Or Blackrock.

  19. You KNOW It's "Open Source" on Ubiquiti Announces RouterStation Challenge Winners · · Score: 4, Insightful

When there are TWO "first place" winners! HA!

I'm torn between exclaiming "Bravo!" and muttering "Typical..." :-)

Now, we can't decide between Qt, GTK-2, EXT3 or 4 or JFS or, between Beryl or Compfusion or between...

Any way, GOOD WORK LADS! Now, can you find a better way to inject this on most of the horrid little boxes? All that TFTP setup for 1.5 mb of binary, just one time? I can hardly bother!

  25. Re:What's scary about that? on Zombies As American Zeitgeist Proxies · · Score: 1

LBJ knew it was the Poppy-Bush crew that whacked JFK. He just didn't know if they'd stop there - or go all-the-way to the overt coup.

That's what made him fall apart, and gives us the creeps.
