Students who feel forced to go to class by a system like this aren't likely to participate anyway. I skipped classes sometimes in classes that weren't required, but there were a few lower level classes that attendance was required (at UW-Madison) and I typically just kind of kept my head down and read the Badger Herald or Daily Cardinal. Haha, so timely with the source TFA.
My cousin is a 28 year old Catholic priest and has a podcast. From the sounds of it, his diocese is really enjoying the youthful exuberance he's bringing to the area. All of us were a little boggled about the path he chose, but it seems to be working out nicely for him.
Not sure how this is a failure of the free market, there are plenty of other choices out there besides Xbox Live and lots of people select them. Heck, Halo 2 is available on Windows if you want to play multiplayer, or you can even use third-party online services to still play on the Xbox. There are solutions out there to those who still want to play.
But there were still schools and kids were being educated, doesn't mean we suddenly needed a Department of Education to broadly tell thousands of local school districts how to do their job.
Not really ballsy considering he didn't actually let Facebook's challenge of "The only legal way to access any web site with a crawler was to obtain prior written permission" go to court. Maybe he should have gone to the EFF for help as the repercussions of a judge actually deciding in Facebook's favor would have been devastating to the web.
Basic government? To me that says defending our borders, repairing roads, and basic social services that one would find in a game like SimCity 2000. The US is fighting two wars in foreign countries along with the War on Drugs, I think we could trim that huge "defense" budget, drop the tax on corporations, and be just fine.
I always thought the Onion should post real news on April 1st, not that their rendition on the news is that far from the truth anyway. And not like this article is even from today.
Well, if the DSi could do it already, they wouldn't be releasing another new system. I'm assuming this is something totally different, though it is pretty cool.
Meh, when I feel like hardcore gaming, I prefer to lay out on the couch in varying positions, not sit at my desk. Probably why there are about 20 games I bought from Steam that I never played.
Dude, your username is DaFallus.

That's up to my employer, where a Senator is the employee of the United States, or at least the state they directly represent: it's tax payer money.
Great, just what we need is more dicks in the hot tub.

Kramer v. Kramer
Do you work on weapons? Do you share my concerns?
My job is to help lawyers do their job better, I believe I qualify.
How's the free market supposed to step in when entities like the FCC exist in the first place?
It'll be sold as a security device, so that no one can attack you without being recorded.
Except when getting stabbed in the back.
Wind farms are growing in popularity around the state. Seems like a couple hundred went up around my parent's house over the last few years.
Babies to wear the sensor cost a lot more than just several thousands of dollars, they're expensive hardware!
Wow, how sad and pathetic.
But there's always a battle to fight, the current one is proprietary codecs for the video tag in HTML 5.

They have an advertising campaign now:

Here's your ladder out of hell (and into another).
When I submitted it I made a particular point to remove the references to "hacking".
Blade Runner The Unicorn was a Replicant Edition
He read more of it than any other legislature will, at least he's raising some questions, whether they're educated or not.
