I just graduated from college in 2006, and even though I never brought a laptop to class, I was still reading the newspaper in pit lectures and doing sudoku and kakuro in small lectures, or writing non-fiction.
I picked up an AMD Phenom 2 940 quad core mid last year on Newegg on a great combo deal with the motherboard I wanted (GIGABYTE GA-MA790X-UD4P) for $240 all together. It was probably a little more than I wanted to spend on the pair, but since I used my last computer I built for over seven years, I want this thing to last just as long.
Fuck the Prime Directive, only amateurs enforce this I'm strip-mining planetoids, scanning for resources racking shit from the moons, planets, and the ports and now the Normandy is upgraded and damaging your forces
The F-22 Raptor has 1.7 million lines, the F-35 about 5.7 million, and a 787 has 6.5 million lines, but somehow a consumer automobile needs 100 million?
I'm honestly surprised this is the first major incident.
Some of those testimonials are very revealing about how the school district abused the webcam:
"Hi, I'm a 2009 Graduate of Harriton Highschool. [...] I and a few of my fellow peers were suspicious of this sort of activity when we first received the laptops. The light next to the web cam would randomly come on, whether we were in class, in study hall or at home minding our own business. We reported it multiple times, each time getting the response: "It's only a malfunction. if you'd like we'll look into it and give you a loaner computer."
"The webcam couldn't be disabled due through tough tough security settings. Occasionally we would notice that the green light was on from time to time but we just figured that it was glitching out as some macbooks do sometimes. Some few covered it up with tape and post its because they thought the IT guys were watching them. I always thought they were crazy and that the district, one of the more respectable ones within the state, would never pull some shit like this. I guess I was wrong."
Considering the number of comments on some of those posts outnumbers a few Slashdot articles, it seems he's doing decently well. Not that I agree with him, but I might start up xkcdsuckssucks in response.
Meh, those are private establishments that have their own rules. If you don't like it, don't give them money when you're the age they will accept money from you.
Second this, love Hot Drupal. Their website looks corny, the name is weird, but the service is great and my site has been rock solid since moving over to them in November.
Hmm, okay I found the article you're talking about. Looks like Cerberus Network will just be used for free content, and they'll offer up the paid stuff through the usual route.
Hey, I love Mass Effect 2 (and DAO), but if you buy Mass Effect 2 used, to be able to even download any DLC, you first have to purchase access to the Cerberus Network from EA (which is $15 or $20).
Maybe he means some females will hear the scream of their brethren after their wings are fried and they're tumbling to the ground and thus avoid that area.
Obstructionists sounds like a compliment, anything to stop Congress from doing anything is good in my book (couldn't care less which party has the majority either). Like these massive snowfalls, nothing has made me happier.
It was always the intent of George Lucas to have Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan ride on Greedo's ship, The Manka Hunter, but Harrison Ford was cheaper than keeping famous actor Paul Blake around (who demanded more money for sitting in a rubber suit most of the day) so he decided to rewrite the script to have Han kill Greedo instead of the other way around.
I still haven't finished it (hey, I've put in 25 hours in the last six days!), but BioWare has improved literally everything that was broken in the first. I do miss some of the RPG elements during combat, but there are still a ton of fun RPG things to do while in the hub worlds or on your ship. If you've ever played a game in the Suikoden series, you have to play Mass Effect 2.
ME1 is one of my favorite games of all time, and it's incredible how much BioWare improved on it.

Great processor, runs everything like a champ.
Time to make some more Steam friends to share the cake with.
Positech Games, the guy posts on Slashdot too.

Just wanted to thank you for funding Top Gear, the best show on television, period.
Dust theme is the way to go.

I avoided DreamHost also because I have a Drupal site and their mysql servers are just too slow for the application. Went with Hot Drupal and love it.
My town burned down while I was out playing and everyone I know is dead.

What are you in for?
Why is free speech something to be voted on and taken away?

Only the plural version: laserz.

So the current administration could quickly recover the economy by ending the wars and bringing soldiers home? Sounds awesome.
