  1. Re:Bid On A Role In A Sucky Game? No Thanks... on Bid On A Role in Fable 2 For Child's Play · · Score: 1

Few things in gaming frustrate me as much as the shear, unabashed, hatred that people seem to have for this game. There are some really bad games out there, Fable is not one of them. In fact, it's a rather good, and original (something you don't see too much of these days) title. Fable was over hyped, over promised, and under delivered, but it wasn't bad. And gamers have as much themselves to blame for their inflated expectations for that game as they do Molyneux.

These debates with Thompson are counterproductive. I have the highest respect for Lanning and the games he makes, but the fact remains that he is a game developer. Putting him in a debate against a veteran trial lawyer, even one as crazy as Thompson, is like scheduling a scrimmage between the chess club and the varsity football team.

I bought a $350 8800 GTS six months ago. Why? Because I wanted to play PC games. The PC gives you a significantly different experience than the Wii does. And if you ask me, the video card was the better value. Am I upset that Nvidia has released a new card? Of course not. Only a fool would expect a piece of technology to stay on the cutting edge for very long these days (I'm looking at you, iPhone early adopters).

TF2 is a great game, but come on... you can't seriously use it as a benchmark for graphical performance. I doubt you're even running Episode 2 on full settings with that card and still getting decent frame rates. And if you can't find any games that make your graphics card chug, World in Conflict, UT3, COD4, and Crysis all have demos out now. Try running any of those games and then come back and tell us that a 6800GS is all you need with a straight face.

It's a "chicken and the egg" issue. Do politicians not represent young people because young people don't vote, or do young people not vote because politicians don't represent them? There's no way to know for sure which it is. However, that also means that if more young people voted politicians would represent them better and if politicians would represent them better more young people would vote.

The thing is, why leave it up to the politicians to take the first step? Yeah, the system sucks. But it's not going to change unless people do something about it. If you don't like voting for someone from one of the primary parties then vote for an independent, there's like 5 of them on the presidential ballot every election.

Have you talked to a 12 year old recently? I barely trust them enough to mow my lawn. The thing is, the reason that the old people pass all the laws is because they are the ones who turn up to vote. If more young people would show up at the polls they would be better represented in our government. The very fact that they don't show up seems to me as evidence that they are in fact less capable of making those decisions.

Why are so many people in the /. community so fixated on the Wii's success? They can't even entertain the idea that something bad could happen to it. You can't even have an intelligent discussion about it. The whole reason I come to /. is for the comments, the good ones that is. But on the subject of the Wii they don't even exist. The minute you so much as breach the topic the fanboys come out of the woodwork to squelch any negative commentary about the Wii and to hype up any positive commentary.

I have nothing against the Wii. I own one myself, and I love it. However, it's almost not even worth talking about it anywhere on the Internet because the conversations are so completely one sided.

It's easy to bash a game company when you only focus on the bad games it makes. Look I can do it too: Remember Bungie? They made that mediocre Oni game and had that massive bug in Myth 2. Or what about that Blizzard developer? God Blackthorn was the biggest Prince of Persia rip-off ever. And Capcom?
