funny stuff, they ripped THEMSELVES off, my local "rock" (and i use the term loosely) station played this one night, it was hilarious. for those of you wondering, it plays their original song in one speaker and the new song in the other, it pretty much sounds like ONE song with different lyrics on each side
i hate my local "rock's cutting edge" station, (105.7 The X) EVERYTHING they play has that "Nickelback drone" sound, basically you drag out a long scuzzy chord progression slowly while you growl your horrible depressing lyrics over it. I hate that kind of music, the only other thing the station plays is lame hair-metal from the 80's. Apparently Clear Channel doesn't think that central PA is sophisticated(?) enough for The Killers or Modest Mouse or any INTERESTING music out there.
finally! someone who shares my pain! i completed the other 2 missions, saving the marine for last, but i couldn't get through it, the last time i played, i jumped 3 feet off my chair when a face-hugger got me
the first level in the original AvP was like the Doom mod the grandparent poster described, you had to walk out to another area through a cavernous dark environment with no weapons, your only ally was your CO over the radio
not only is it hard as hell to uninstall, when you go through the process it says first: "Stop! Do you really want to uninstall Weatherbug? It could save your life!" and then: "Click here to stop recieving LIFE SAVING hazardous weather alerts!"
any program that tries to scare people (probably older computer users, ie: grandparents) into keeping it, is malware in my book
how could you blind a pilot facing forwards, looking out very small windows thousands of feet in the air, from a point on the ground looking straight up? you'd just hit the bottom of the aircraft
even if you were good enough to hit the plane (and you'd have to be damn good, a milimeter twitch of your hand translates to several meters that far away), you'd never be able to get the laser into the window, and even if you could accomplish that, it would still only be hitting the roof of the cockpit! unless this was a magic laser that could turn corners or something, you're not going to be blinding any pilots
ok... no sure how that happened... but: every time toys are mentioned on slashdot, someone inevitably brings up the "Lego was better when you didn't have all these Star Wars kits! there's no imagination anymore" or if you're really old "I had Lego before all this space and castle silliness! it was so much better"
have you seen Lego lately? sure, the Star Wars sets are there... but *gasp* SO ARE THE BASIC SETS! a feature so many/.'ers neglect (because then they couldn't sound so curmodgeonly)
yeah... basic sets, like "dinosaurs" or "robots" which gives you a bunch of generic parts and some dino or robo instructions. robobot set
I grew up with the themed Legos and that NEVER stopped me or any other kid i knew from building freeform creative models

IronPort Systems, a messaging appliance vendor, was asked not to participate in the test because Opus One has an existing consulting contract with this company - including them in the test would have created a conflict of interest.
i never read the books, but: something told me that the hero originally didn't have a chubby slacker, and a know-it-all redheaded chick as sidekicks at one point the Hermione clone even exclaimed "Brilliant!" in that oh-so-Rowling tone
its that big box that's hooked up to your surround-sound, dvd, and game console
apparently they're some real-time, one-way, non interactive content delivery system available for it, but from what i hear, its not worth the monthly cost
so, you're saying that an editor can't editorialize? or is it because he's new, his opinion matters less than CmdrTaco's? its not like he's advertising another website, he's an editor here on/. furthermore, how else would you like his presence to be known? if he's new, he has to say SOMETHING so we know where he stands, what sort of stories to expect to see with his approval on them, etc...
hey SOLLOG, why don't you... you know... learn how to put FREAKING LINE BREAKS BETWEEN YOUR URL'S!?!?! betcha didn't predict i'd say that, did ya?.. cuz... if ya did... then ya would've... and i wouldn't have had to say it
The display was only a few inches across, and was a simple trick using a conventional monitor and a parabolic mirror, you can actually build one yourself, but the results really aren't worth it (i wish i still knew where to find that site). Most people have strangly fond memories of this game, even though the gameplay was terrible (sub "Dragon's Lair"), and it was just an excuse to show off a cheap gimmick that had its novelty wear off very quickly.
Dont get me wrong, i dont expect stars and accolades out of a series which barely discerns itself from the likes of zena/hurcules/Beastmaster in some of its episodes (did these guys share their prop guys/ set designers or what?
i'm relatively new to Stargate, my girlfriend got me into it, its a fun show, but i don't take it as seriously as her
last night i pointed out that there were lit TORCHES on the G'ould ship, and started mocking them, it really gave it that Xena feel, and this was SG-1! needless to say, she wasn't too happy that i was making fun of one of her favorite shows
(she also didn't like that i also called the Zat's 'snake guns' and the staff's 'fuel rods', and the J'far, yeah... they were 'storm troopers')
Atlantis had large numbers of on and off screen deaths, mostly of the 'stormtrooper' henchmen though. after their original sub is destroyed, there is a funeral service for the crewmembers who were lost
i agree! immediatly following a long session of Carmageddon, i got in my car to drive somewhere... when i left my neiborhood and encounted another motorist, my first instinct was to drive off the road, change my angle and broadside them, i stopped myself after my hands automatically flicked the steering wheel... so i pulled onto a side street for a minute to catch my breath and relax... i was fine for the rest of the drive, but those first few moments really scared me
also, after a marathon halflife session, i was walking across campus when off in the distance i thought i saw a friend, but wasn't sure if it was her. for about a second i wondered why i my eyes wouldn't "zoom in" as i unconciously clicked my right middle finger on a non-existant mouse!
the ONLY scenario that i can think of.. is that they dressed up in dark clothing to be concealed, when police asked about their outfits, one of them made a remark about dressing up like Counter Strike. CS didn't really have anything to do with it, it was probably the only thing the killer could really relate to about their outfits. The press gets a copy of the police report, sees there's something about "counter strike", does a little research... and BAM, its a new "video-game murder" when the real motivation is probably something completely different.

what they REALLY say about bias in their report:

the patent would only apply to the code
the graphics/artwork, storyline/writing, sound files, map layout, etc... would be covered under copyright laws
yeah, it was called Time Traveler

But show it to a non-gamer, and you usually don't get a wow. Why? They are used to things that you see in this Far Cry video
come again? non-gamers are used to seeing incredible photorealistic computer graphics? do you mean as in real life, or a Pixar movie, or... what?
nope, it was in fact a Disney movie, it didn't "feel" like one exactly, but it was one, and a damn funny one at that

the cast they got for ILoveBees was amazing!

what exactly does that mean? i thought that Antarctica was agreed to be shared among all nations or something along those lines
