Needs Adblock Plus. But I feel Google won't add that on there own since it would either cut there revenue stream or block all competitor ads.
It's a smooth and often fast ride that takes browsing back to the basics. It will be interesting to see how long it takes before it works with all the self branded plugins that are annoying (yes I'm looking at you CNN).
If Google owns their own browser and their sights are the most visited on the internet I'm guessing they will be optimized to work together. So Google will work faster on Google browser like MS Office on MS windows, Since more people surf to and through Google their browser will be popular. And why not.
this seems to be an interesting concept that has the potential to be useful given the right systems and tools added to it. It would be a good fit for any number of these micro linux projects like gOS (thinkgos.com). As things move to the web and speed up I can see this become a pseudo operating system. I can write emails and pull up info on the net. I should be able to sms and IM on the thing.
The problem with new search engines is they need to be great before they launch because they are jumping into a room full of competitors. They don't have name recognition so they need to bring enough to the party to make me switch the first time I search with them or I will forget to ever go back. Slashdot has highlighted several new Google beating search engines a few were pretty good but not a single one preformed well enough at that time to make me switch so I stuck with Google. These companies need to put out a full product before it hits slashdot.
Didn't they try this with desktop computers. When my sister went to college dad got dial up internet from MSN which came with a free computer which dad gave to her.
It only makes sense to give away computers to use internet, especially now that companies are inserting ads. If my ISP stands to make money off of each PC on the network then the more PCs I have the better off they are. If you gave me a free subcompact-notebook, I would surf the internet more because I would be portable within my house.
Amazon isn't going to make the customers made with this. They are going (in theory) to make their customers happy. Because they have less stock to carry they can offer lower prices and if they put printers around the country they can offer faster shipping. They did make the POD industry mad but I would imagine that is a chance they are willing to take. I don't buy own POD books so at the end of the day this doesn't change my relationship with Amazon.
(I did write a POD book which is affected by this but I haven't sold any copies on Amazon so there is no effect.)
I wouldn't carry that thing around. I like the idea of the slide open changing the screen contents. But the Iphone has a nice big screen, any killer will have to find a way to have a big screen or someway of compensating.
This would give hospitals a bigger bully pulpit to force you to pay whatever they bill. If a dispute takes 3 months that would surely hurt your score, thus giving hospitals leverage to bill high and force payment.
I would end the war in Iraq and then tell the American Automakers that they had to share half the amount we would have spent on the war over the next 4 years to come up with a highly fuel efficient car (150+ mpg). The car would have to be affordable ($15,000) of course they could make luxury models but they would need affordable ones. I would give them a 1 term deadline and tell them any discoveries and inventions they made using the money had to be shared with the other companies.
If they only spend part of their money they get to evenly split the rest. The other half of the money would go to solving the infrastructure problem created by the new cars. For example if they come up with electric cars the money would go to apartments, homeowners and electric companies to pay for upgrades so everyone could charge their cars.
I love how they will send the coupons out when the THINK the first boxes SHOULD be aviable. Then will expire the Coupons in 90 Days. How come I see some big delay in this whole proccess which will render many coupons useless.
Are there reviews for any of these boxes?
Schools could buy these at that price and load up some usefull educational software. Or they could teach kids how to type, I learned an Apple 2e why because a keyboard is the same regardless of the PC price.
Call me when the middle class can get a fuel effiecient car.
If I have to decide between that and a $15,000 Corolla which gets 30 mpg. I would have to choose the Corolla becuase the extra $15,000 is the current equivilant of 5,000 gallons of gas or about 150,000 miles of driving.
If I drove my Corolla 100,000 miles I would pay $25,000 (car + gas) if I drove the Typ-1 e 100,000 miles I would have paid $32,500. If I got the Typ-1 h I would pay 31,000 to go the same distance (assuming it costs $30,000).
I don't see Google building a network. I see them driving up the price a bit to force another company into a difficult financial situation then making them an offer to make the service Good.
Since the other company will be financial strained they will be forced to take Google's offer. Just like my website isn't hosted at Google but I use Google tools to make it good. My phone won't be hosted at Google, ATT will just be forced to use Google tools to make it good. Meanwhile ATT gets my monthly check and Google gets my ad revenue with a little money tossed ATT's way for good measure.
I pay GoDaddy to host my site. I use Feedburner for my RSS, and bloggers interface for my blog.
I pay ATT for my phone, I use gmail for my email and when I see and ad ATT gets a little money because Google just used bandwidth.
I dunno I'm not explaining well.
That just wasn't a good experience. I found the one book I looked for (Pilgrim's Progress) but I found the User Experience next to bad. They need to kick that up a couple of notches before I would use this over Google's books.
I'm sure this can be done in years. It's just that no one ( at least no one with a whole bunch of money and incentive) really wanted it until now. power companies have no reason, they get to charge money regardless of where the power comes from so non-renewable works just as well for them, they might as well let others invest in the R&D.
Google will at very least save a good deal of money on this project and at best they will make a good deal of money from it. Good for them.
My University outsourced email 3 out of 4 years. It also changed every single year, which was slightly annoying. Our first provider was slow (5 minutes to get logged in), our second was fast but had a horrible interface, the third was down far to often. Finally we got outlook webmail, which I personally dislike, since it looks like outlook but isn't functional like outlook. I would much rather have had gmail.
Even with the first three outsourced providers our IT was working to keep things running, it's not that they were fixing network problems it's that they had to fight to get basic services.

Beats being the oldest fairy on the net.

Cosmo Kramer. You *are* the Assman.

Didn't we defeat magnetotail back in MegaMan 3 using our Plasma Buster?

Would this work on earth as a sippy cup that won't leak?
Clone it's what's for dinner...

maybe mathematicians can solve why old news appears on slashdot.

Have they found the hidden immunity idol?
It seems like WebMD for the rest of us. Like Festivus is for the rest of us.
Best Buy didn't want the improve group being the only one getting laughed at.
