This is not a good idea at best and more than likely a horrible idea. The standard I'm trying to call 911 in secret criticism works here. I can't watch the video in the article (youtube video anyone?) but I would imagine if I dialed 911 and heard some crazy alarm coming out of my phone I would hang my phone up and try again. I'm not sure what the alarm sounds like but if it's just some siren I would give up after a few tries thinking 911 was broken. Do we have a way to test this? I can't add or change emergency numbers in my phone and don't really want to call 911 to test my phone out.

Remember when AOL, Prodigy, Compuserve, Netscape, changed their billing, for a wile it was 25 hours a month for $20 dollars then it become unlimited for $35. Eventually cellular will move to this type of billing then Nintendo can step in but right now, Google, Nintendo, and other cool companies who need a different cellular fee structure can only attempt to change the fee structure from the outside. Once the structure changes the whole market will explode.

I'm not sure this is about being two houses down the road, (yet, and we will get back to that) but it's about being in the right spot. My sisters house was always marked in the middle of the block, not in the road but somewhere in here neighbors backyard, which meant that Gmaps would mark her house on the wrong street. Yahoo didn't do this. So I think more than fixing how far down the street you go this is going to help assure the markers are on the right street. My hope is say Sony and Lexmark share a skyscraper in New York and I want to visit and they have two different entrances to the same building then I would be sent to the correct entrance. Back to the yet, I'm hoping / guessing this is step one. I would like to see step two be, add a near buy parking marker so when I go to visit Chicago Sears tower I can know where people park. I'm also going to assume this has something to do with the Gphone because GPS likes to bring you to the right spot or it just makes there data more accurate than other data so they can sell it.

That being said I haven't actually used one of these but it looks like they may fit the bill of what my average friend and co-worker needs. I would guess the big hurdle is the Ipod. My folks would be fine with this PC but the Ipod obstacle stands in the way. I think it's a good idea I may consider but it may be in front of it's time. For this to work Google and the carrier need to make money. The carrier currently charges based on my transfer amounts and I'm unlikely to want to pay so I can allow Google to show me ads or prefetch my gmail. Which means Google will have to reduce my payment. I know they have turned pay software free before but I'm not sure they can cut my cellphone bill enough to make me get wireless internet. I'm not going to pay for such a service but if it is free I would but that means Google will need to make enough to pay the carrier and themselves, and at $40 a person that's a lot to make from ads.

Google is late to the game as far as wireless aps go so they need to convince users to move from what has been working well on the cellphone to Google. Might this be part of the Gphone (rumor) strategy to capture wireless user markets around the globe. Is this concept of restrictions on sales fair? Can I buy a ticket and be told what to do with it (can MSFT sell me an XBox then prevent me from modding it?) In Ohio folks sell pencils with free tickets to the Michigan Ohio State game. Since your not selling the tickets this is legal. What if StubHub allowed a purchase and processing fee set by the seller I could sell the ticket at face value then pump up the purchase and processing fees I will charge to get you the ticket (like shipping on ebay)? In a broad sense issue has implications elsewhere, at what point do I own the item and have the freedom of control over it? If this is an OS on a phone I'm just not seeing how this is going to save me money. Google needs people to get on the mobile web but the cost is killing the us market. If Google can get me on the Mobil web without raising my monthly cellphone bill then I would surf a whole lot more, especially if I had a nice phone to do it on.
