Think of it this way. If you have Solar Panels with 20% efficiency, then only 80% of the energy falling on the panels can be converted to "Heat" (at most). Since, if it is raised off your roof even an inch, the only way heat will get from the panels to your roof is via radiation. It can't conduct. Also, it can't "convex", because that would be up, not down.
Now, the panels will re-radiate heat in random directions, so 50% of whatever energy that is converted to heat will radiate downward. Which will in turn warm your roof tiles (some). This will in turn re-radiate, some back up and with even a 1 inch gap, because the roof is most likely slanted, you'll get a good up-current of air beneath the panels. This will automatically provide significant cooling.
Now, in the above 80% will not likely convert to heat. Of what is not converted to electricity, a lot will simply be reflected off.
To know for sure we'd have to run some experiments and/or perform some more precise calculations; however, I think you'd find that the amount of heat conducted into your house would be quite small in comparison to the energy falling on the Solar Panels
Wouldn't the Solar panels being absorbing the sunlight and turning it into electrical energy (or reflecting/reradiating what is not converted) thereby not allowing the sunlight/infrared to become "heat" in your house?

That was a horribly biased and poorly written response to the whole "tasers" thing. "not even in their darkest hour would they consider shooting a sick guy for calling an ambulance." Oh come on. I went back and re-read some links on EXA. It appears I had it confused with something else.
I recalled (recently?) reading several articles/press releases from Intel talking about some new features they were planning to add to next generation cards. It stuck out in my memory as having something to do with rendering video in a composited environment. If I recall correctly, it was not just an issue with drivers though. It was something more substantive hardware-wise.
Does anyone else know of what I speak? I can't seem to find a link right now.
Their "Hardware" does not support the necessary functionality. Intel has plans to add the necessary functionality. They have not yet done it. ATI and Nvidia both have the necessary functionality.
This is a "Hardware" issue, not a software/drive one.

I don't think Stallman thinks he can win over businesses per se. In fact, I don't think he cares about winning over anyone. I think he believes what he believes. That is, he consistently states the ethical boundaries within which he chooses to operate. He lives by what he believes are correct, moral and humane behavior. He states his case and welcomes others to live within the same ethical boundaries. If you choose not to, he will not impinge upon your freedom to do as you choose in the least.
He will, like any "Moral Authority" (note the quotes) argue that your behavior is morally or ethically not in keeping with his, and others with the same beliefs, system of ethics. In no case will he "Force" you to follow his (the GNU/FSF) way.
I think this behavior is something to be admired and often sorely lacking.
In other words, RMS is not a hypocrite. He is consistent, forthright, honest, and dedicated. What he chooses to do harms no one and helps many.
I'm not saying he is perfect (far from it, like us all), but, I think he is an outstanding example of "Humanity" that all of us could learn something from.

Ummmm...yeah, they would heat and transfer "some" to your roof. My guess is it would be MUCH, MUCH less than direct sunlight though.
