Now it's obvious that Chinese media is a complete farce. It's state controlled and blatantly so. But i also have to wonder if our western media isn't exactly the same but just smarter about it? Sure it isn't blatant like Pravda or China Daily but our western media still seems to reach for the same goals as Pravda and China Daily would. From getting people behind support of a war to excusing completely unjustifiable actions. Our media seems no better, just smarter and less blatant. Probably makes our media more dangerous than theirs to be honest.

Chicken Kickers, the issues you mentioned are "controversial" only because those still in power at the moment made it so, by continuing the old British policy of "divide and conquer", by their racially divisive rhetoric, by propagating the myth that Malays have to depend on handouts to hold their own in their own nation. These are the very people who should be charged with sedition. As a fellow Malaysian (Chinese), I want my children to grow up in a country where they feel proud to be Malaysians first (and Chinese a distant second), where they do not have to resort to going overseas to get a halfway decent education, where those in power are there by virtue of their competence (and not due to their kris waving abilities).
Personally, I feel that change, is long overdue. An entire generation has been lost (whether due to brain drain, or our half baked education system) due to the government's incompetence. Can we lose one more?
This is a war to win public opinion. And for 99.99% of the public who are not slashdot readers, the only 2 choices are PC (i.e. WIndows) or Mac. It's not Microsoft's job to correct the public's misconception of what a PC is, nor will most people bother to understand even if Microsoft tried.

The whole point of the law is to protect peons from being exploited by their bosses.
Peons are usually lowly paid. So the criteria to be classified as exempt should be based on their salary. I.e. those paid below a certain amount go by the clock.
You could be designated a "manager", but be doing lowly paid peon work, in which case you should be protected by the law.

In a capitalist system, private individuals can take risk and be rewarded for it.
In a pure socialist system, only the government can take risks.

IMHO, anyone who thinks that CEOs are overpaid are underestimating the task of running an organisation.
A head of department deals with a small number of subordinates and might be responsible for making sure that the process he is in charge of (might be IT support, Quality Assurance etc) is working properly. Sure he contributes value to the organisation, but how does this compare to:
A CEO who runs the whole show, motivating the employees, getting the best out of his employees, sourcing new business, placating current customers, squeezing the suppliers, dealing with regulatory authorities and addressing the needs of a whole host of other stakeholders (shareholders, board of directors blah blah blah). A CEO primarily deals with humans (who are irrational, illogical and a real bitch to work with) and imo, this is a bigger challenge compared to making sure that machines / systems are in working order.
Not everyone can do that, and when you find someone who can, you pay top dollar for his services.
There will always be underperforming, overpaid CEOs but these people won't stay CEO for long.
