If you want a better indication of whats mainstream take a look at each consoler's numbers vs their previous generation, and also the numbers in comparison to the PS2. The PS3 is selling less than a third of what the PS2 did in the same time-frame, the 360 is tracking slightly under what the original XBox did (but still worse), and the only console doing better than the previous generation for themselves is the Wii which coincidentally, has numbers that are tracking slightly under the PS2s numbers during the same time-frame. There can only really be one mainstream console. Everything else is hardcore/niche. Can you figure out which one it is?
They can get out of a hole? They still haven't gotten out of the hole that is the PS2. Sure they sell the slims for a profit now, but theres all those years they lost selling PS2s for less than it cost them to put them into customer's hands. Sony & MS are both out of their flipping minds. In a different industry, with just a little more transparency to the shareholders, this kind of business practice could never be going on. At the rate Sony & MS are going, the industry is going to be a fairly messed up place, and possibly crash again. Only company of the big 3 that seems to be financially responsible enough to survive such a thing is Nintendo, and as much as I love what they've done with the Wii (and I mean love), we probably don't want Nintendo as the defacto company for console gaming without real competition again. Nintendo has a habit of going out of their way to try and meet demand at whatever costs. They got into another factory during the DS Lite's launch just to try, and get more units out. Nintendo doesn't generally hype the shit out of their console after it launches. Hell look at their generally lame commercials for that kind of information. If you are the only person with highly valuable/non-recoverable passwords, you need to be fired and replaced by two lower paid people. If your in a theater there is little you can honestly do to begin with that will happen within the next 1-2 hours anyways. You pick up the message when you leave the premisis, and life goes on.
Wrestling on SciFi is akin to airing cooking shows on Cartoon Network. I figure if I am EXTREMELY bored, and wanna watch some campy/crappy SciFi I flip to the channel. Every time I do that now I manage to find ECW is on.
Um, when was the last time you used a Mac? OSX changed many things. Not to mention if your accessing the menu that much, you should find out what keyboard shortcuts are. Right click has been there since like, OS8. Maybe earlier. Back then it required a 3rd party mouse, but now Apple even ships mice that have a right click functionality. Heck, their laptops only have one visible button, yet if you tap the trackpad with two fingers you get right-click (scroll with two fingers on the trackpad as well). On the physical mouse Apple ships theres just no hacked in visual division of right v left click past the 2D mouse-scrollball in the middle. If you push on the left you get a left click, and a right side press, well I hope you can figure that out. Not to mention 3rd (scroll ball), and 4th (squeeze the side buttons) mouse button.
Do us all a favor, and take a deep breath so you can join the rest of us in the year 2007. That, or you were just looking to find excuses to not want to say something could *gasp* be better/better looking than what you currently use. If a Mac honestly confuses you, you probably can't learn new things very well. Hell, I personally think the menu bar being at the very top is the best way to do a menu. You effectively have an infinite space vertically going up to not have to worry about. Kinda makes initial menu access one dimensional, instead of having to make sure you don't overshoot a menu because you went too high or low, but thats just me. There are very good reasons Apple has stuck with that menu system all these years.
Not to mention if you don't want to use the Dock, or dig through the Apps folder theres Quicksilver which is one of my fav things I have ever come across by accident. CTRL+Space, "couple letters of the app name", enter, and off you go. It's fairly adaptive too so it's able to fairly program specific related commands as well.

The 1MB requirement is bidirectional. I'm paying for a business connection that gets 6MB down, and 786KB up. Sure I can virtually never max out my down, but my up is way too damn easy to max out. It's getting there, but by no means considered "broadband" by me.
Largely the homebrew in the US for the DS is due to the fact that people are seeing what Japan has done with DS non-videogame related stuff so exceptionally. All sorts of Kanji learning games, math, quizes, cook-book, etc. The DS has created a completely new kind of market in Japan. I can only dream of similar things happening in the rest of the world.
Games with an ability to teach has a good test case known as Japan. Part of the reason the Nintendo DS Lite can't be kept in stock there despite an average $160 price-tag, and the Lite revision being out over a year, is due to the less game like games being put out like the math, writing/Kanji, and dictionary games that have come out (the Kanji games are the main reason I pass my Kanji Kentai exams). Games can't be the sole form of learning for the student, but they can be extremely helpful as an outside supplement to the classroom. Only people that really want to bring games into the classroom are lazy parents who want to plop their kid in front of a computer instead of, god forbid having to help their kid with their algebra, and even more lazy teachers that don't want to grade papers (lets doc their pay to pay for the software if that's their mentality). Sure some of the kids want it too (hell I even wanted it in HS), but they don't get any say in the matter. Kids are lazy freeloaders anyways.

Yeah this thing looks like it does less than the last Fujitsu P1000 which is just slightly wider (barely larger footprint than a paperback book), and has a touch screen which is an anchient 800mhz Transmeta system. This isn't even replacing a $1000 item with a $2000 item. This is at most a $400 item these days. For $2000 I could get a highly pimped out Fujitsu Lifebook P7230 (I dig Fujitsu's sub-notebooks, rugged lil bastards) that does everything that does, has a whole fucking lot more, and the only drawback would be a slightly larger system (would be even smaller if they dropped the optical drive).
