Which is fine given a standard DS cart with Opera browser on it + a non-standard GBA cart with higher quality memory costs a whole lot more to make than a normal game cart. Opera on the Wii will just be the code to run it since you ahve the necicarry hardware allready and we all know code can be replicated for next to nill (bandwith + electricity). Any money they make off the Wii Opera will be more for upkeep of the browser I believe.

And even purchasing cars you haven't unlocked yet with real money is unacceptable. It's a slippery slope meant purely to test Sony's ability to extract more money from gamers. It's a slippery slope to the very real future of paying to unlock any content in the future. I won't defend Zonk for the jacked tite, but honestly...if you need to offer that people can purchase items they seem to be unable to unlock normaly you need to be fired IMMEDIATELY and the game mechanics reworked to where people don't need to spend 300+ hours to unlock all the content. Unlockable content was nice when it first started with games as a kind of treasure hunt for some easter egg, but anymore it's just a way developers to say, "High Replay Value" when thier game really has shit to offer past a single play through. Which just so happens to be almost every driving game concieved since the PSX era.

It's possible that the "region coding" with the Wii will be TV based. Euope TVs generaly run PAL vs US & Japan who run NTSC. I at least am keeping my fingers crossed in that regard (any praying for no region locking). Yes I know it's just a bit that decides PAL or NTSC (anyone with a moded xbox should know this), but Nintendo can fuck up on a minor issue like this. I'd probably think a bit differently however if I was in Europe.

I'm not anti 360 (hell I will buy a 360 for GOW) but MS is failing atm with the 360 in the US just theres no other next gens to compare numbers with. Hell the PS2 is even outselling the 360. You wanna know what common household item he got his radioactive material from? I can guarentee you have at least one of these in your house. Smoke dectors! A few thousand of them (he bought broken ones in bulk from manufacturers). Every smoke detector with the exception of the more expensive and less sensitive ones usualy use americium-241. The guy has since worked for the Navy I think and gone on to bigger & better things.

Besides that, those kinds of devices require far more work than a regular bomb with a much larger potential for imediate destruction. Needing to create a dirty bomb insaintly states that your group is operating on a shoestring budget. Max a dirty bomb can really do is cause panic with luddites like you who hear the word, "radiation" and about shit yourself. What are you doing on /. anyways? Your CRT is emitting radiation!

The reason theres so much content on Youtube from Japan specifically is because even posting a picture of a celebrity with-out thier permission (that YOU took with your own camera!) on the net is a copyright infringement. Youtube has nothing to do with Japan really so they are free & clear of Japanese law for the most part. They do however take down "some" stuff often times when it's requested, but usualy is requested by a US branch of a Japanese corporation, but even then it's still iffy.

2ch.net (aka 2 Channel) is "the" major web-board for Japan, but kind like a massive collection of interlinked different Japanese boards for posting of pictures, flash files, and just in general bantering back & forth with Otaku. The closest English example is http://www.4chan.org/ (enter at your own peril). The Japanese for the most part love it. They upload the images on Flikr or videos on Youtube, and embed them on thier own pages. For the most part it works extremely well. From there it just spreads to the rest of Asia like wildfire and no I am not one of those Japan is, "teh superior" freaks (though I am very intrested in the culture). The ammount of racism/ignorance between Korea, China, and Japan is staggering at times on these sites.

They got sued and stopped using that, but there are allot out there still if you want them. I use a Replay with comskip functions and it works roughly 80-90% of the time and still has a 30 second skip button. Only problem really is with autocomskip functions is every once in a while you get a show that a part gets mistaked for a comercial, but it's not something you can't deal with. Just rewind and turn off comskip for that part.

  16. Re:Go Go! on Advertising Comes to DVR Owners · · Score: 1

It's because almost all Bravo shows use the same color intensities, use the same volume level, etc. Comskip looks for 30 or 60 second blocks of scene changes, volume changes (comercials love to crank the volume up), drastic color changes, and of course a constaintly similar image throughout the show which comercials don't have. Usualy adverts for other shows on the same channel with almost any station because they usualy are pretty similar in those respects.

Autocom skip works roughly 90% of the time with me so they really don't have much of a chance. Maybe they should just charge advertisers more for the first & last comercials. First one I see the opening (useless usually) and the last one I usualy just see the product sans marketing gimmicks. Of which usualy the last comercial is usualy them making a pitch for another show on the channel.

Families with four kids will not be purchasing many PS3s + accessories. As for bringing a computer? That's not exactly uncommon at least in my group when everyone just had family computers. They either brought the family PC to the location, bring a laptop, or played from home and just hopped on the server (definition of a LAN party here!). Casual gamers will not do that. Nor do I want them to. They can stay at home and play Pokemon for all I care. Yes it's a little 1337ist, but if you can't accomplish a basic token gesture I don't care.

I've babysat kids and no. If the kid sucks I can't even be around while they play. I open up my laptop and pretend they are just watching TV. Bad players that can't get better are the equivalent of fingernails on a chalkboard to me.

And yes...even with handicapping turned on. That is only useful when people are close in thier skill. Not to mention you really shouldn't even use it in the first place since it'll just stunt the other person's learning something new from their opponent. Bad players can't win without it being max handicapping. People get pissed when they lose, but invariably they either get better or stop playing. Either way I'm happy.

The Wiimote has every single one of these bases covered. Including the part where they actually put the controler in people's hands en-mass. I even got my hands on it at E3 and I was sceptical beforehand, but I'm all for it. The second I can pre-order the Wii I'll have it paid for without hesitation Don't take my word for it though.
