Because...you don't have to create a buggy software layer to talk to a USB dongle to get to serial. With serial it's a direct connection with an absolute standard. The closest thing to date to that is Firewire. Not to mention as another poster mentioned it's in the ATX spec and leaving it off costs almost the same as having it on.

Never said it wasn't being sold at the same price in it's own market as foreign markets. It is however being sold quite below what it costs to be manufactured in order to try and beat the compition. Which is indeed a form of dumping. Nintendo has yet to lose any money really because of them while they both get deeper into the red. If MS & Sony sold thier consoles at the price it costs them to be made or god forbid a profit everyone would laugh at them and either stick with what they have or go buy a Wii. Afterall Sony thinks thier PS3 is an, "amazeing price" for the value. I personaly have the opinion that either Sony or Microsoft will be out of the console producing market once this round finishes up. Having your product be in the red for ten years running while the suposidly inferior competitor continues to rake in the money selling less != a raise.

Actually it's not the dog's fault it's a danger. It's the owner. Problem is most people who treat thier dogs like crap own pit-bulls because they have a rageing hard-on fantasy about a dangerious dog. Every dog breed has the exact same potential to be dangerious as the next dog (except when heavy inbreeding occurs) . I don't personaly own a pit-bull nor will I ever (I'm a basset-hound person), but I have numerious friends and family that own them. Guess what kind of environment the ones that are a bit "mean" live in? People who mistreat thier dogs. Not to mention the ones that own more than one kind of dog end up acting the same way. Dogs are nothing more than children. How you treat them is exactly how they will act.

As something else to think of guess what kind of dogs I've been attacked by? The stupid ass small poodle & toy dogs. I've seen very few of those who have not been mean little fuckers I don't end up kicking because they try to bite me. Do I blame the dog? Not really...those dogs are often times so imbread and thier owners usualy end up knowing jack shit about them they can't be anything, but a pain in the ass to strangers.

Sony can't drop the price anymore than they allready have. Even at the price they are selling the console at they could get themselves into trouble with anti-trust issues (MS too for that matter) called "dumping." Whats dumping you ask? When one company unfairly sells something below cost in order to win the market over and it suceeds at wipeing out the competition. Probably the only reason Nintendo hasn't cried fowl yet is because they still make a whole hell of allot more off thier consoles than MS & Sony can for the next couple generations. Look for Sony to sart hacking out a 3rd SKU with even less "features" if things get bad enough.

With DVD the quality degrdation isn't so huge given if you can't read the data you just can't read it (however DVDs do not age as well as they were once thought to). However VHS which I'm SURE almost anything pre circa 2000 and still allot of what comes in (from say convinience stores) are on that craptastic format. The best solution personaly is to buy professional gear. Anything that plays VHS that can be bought by the consumer is prety pathetic given the parts keep getting made cheaper and cheaper. However just for the sake of future-proofing you should move to an all digital format. Free soltuions like Linux however are not quite free given you have to pay someone or learn it yourself sufficiently ad Windows just isn't flexible enough to me. Something like one of the Mac Pros (I own one Mac to four PCs, but the mac hanldes everything video) would do better given you can get just about any video over firewire and digital stays digital. New machine? Oh well just make sure you have the right codec which costs nothing. Affraid of loseing the file somehow? Put a disk in the casefile and lable the casefile where the backup copy is. To wrap it all up do a SAH-5 checksum of the file so no one can contest that it's been "doctored."
