look at new orleans, look at thai tsunamis, look at austrias flood. chaos, riots and mischief everywhere due to nature catastrophes which come from our reckless abuse of the nature. the system of government, executives, police and law enforcers will break down soon. also big multinationals and other companies will die out. media in the future will be what it should be: entertainment not made to get some bucks out of it. it will be entertainment that will kick the human to another level. it will be something like linux is for software. people will create media to contribute to the evolution not to fill their pockets. not like nowadays where drugabuse, violence and promiscuity are promoted as considerable lifestyles in hollywood movies etc. when there are only few people left on earth after the BIG CRASH, everyone left will have enough space to run farms and live free without greed, cause everyone will get full everyday. MORMONS and VISSARION are not too wrong with their way. they will survive.

nobody wants his computer using up most resources to double and triple encrypt userspace data instead of using this very computing power for the productivity applications. in the last years the processing power rapidely grew but the Windows OS always catched up by using up more and more power for relatively useless tasks. so the theoretical computing power in every single ones hands grew, but the output stagnated.

  12. edonkey rules / bittorrent also a bit ;) on BitTorrent's Loss is eDonkey's Gain? · · Score: 1

edonkey has a lot of advantages... it supports HTTP sources, enabling you to seed a file from a webserver without hassles. look at http://ftpz.us/ , a free file hosting service, that offers download via edonkey. you upload your file there and it will be on the edonkey network forever without having you to upload parts of the file over and over again. to "webseed" like this to the torrent network, a pretty resource-intensive php script is used, so the http-source-server not only has to serve the files/bandwidth, no it also has to split, hash and calculate a lot. also edonkey files stay on the network virtually forever. compare to bittorrent, when the tracker for a file goes down, the party is over. on the other hand on edonkey-servers a lot of work is done double and triple. if you log onto more ed2k-servers, all servers get your whole filelist and process it. on torrent for each file is a fixed tracker so no useless double work results from organizing and handing out file-sources to clients. in the near future i see all these networks merge to one defacto-standard technique. p2p is still in its childhood. but a common standard will soon emerge from the knowledge gathered in the last years.
