You might be able to get away with that in a standard contract but the enforceability of a shrink-wrap license is very questionable. You cannot even see the conditions of the EULA until after you have purchased the product and opened it (therefore not being able to return it). Contracts of adhesion are hard to defend even under normal circumstances, and I'm sure if they ever took this to court MS would lose.

Y'know, ssh under Windows is really rather painless. Just download PuTTY, it's a self-contained ssh client that is only a couple hundred K in size, and can be easily found by searching google for Putty and hitting "I'm feeling lucky." You don't need to install it, just run the program and you're good. I use this all the time when I'm on someone else's computer and I need to access one of my boxes.

It's sounds as if these Linux admins handled the whole situation really badly although instituting a better security policy is not, IMHO, ever a bad thing.

Just because you never had problems doesn't mean they don't happen. It's strange, for some people Windows works fine and for others its pure torture.

On the other hand, I've never seen a linux box kill itself in this fashion. Sure, I've seen crap happen like ext2 volume corrupting from bad restarts, but with ReiserFS, XFS and JFS becoming stable that's not really a problem anymore.

In Japan, anime comprises more than 50% of television. It is only an underground phenomenon in other countries, but most definately mainstream in Japan. However, I think most geeks are the only types of people who would spend enough time to understand the nuances of television from another culture. Anime is best experienced in its original form, and marketing it for an American audience often ruins the best aspects of the original. Perhaps this is due to the Disneyfication process any imported animated show goes through in America.

Clever, but actually that's not true. Think about it: if Windows used Linux as a backend, people would simply become more used to a UNIX system, making the switch to Linux much more painless. Windows emulation would become far simpler, so most Windows programs would work under Linux with little tweaking. It would be great for us but with little advantages for Microsoft. Plus, they're far to arrogant to do something like that.
