Don't worry, one day you will arrive in NY at an airport and find a warrent for your arrest. Or even worse, since California and NY have extradition agreements, maybe the next time your pulled over in California, you get a plane ticket with a bunch of other jump suited buddies.
Think it cant happen? More states are exporting men who didnt pay child support, but where never informed and had summary judgements against them.
First thing they ask you to do, is sign an agreement for bail. Soon as you do that you agreed the courts have jurisdiction over you. Even if you let them assign you a court appointed lawyer.
First, contend they dont have jurisdiction over you. Then sue the state for lawful inprisonment. Think i'm joking? Floridia and NY have already lost million dollar lawsuits because of this tactic.
If its not in the news, doesnt mean its not happening.
Give me the right to vote, and I'll pay your damn taxes. Till then, up yours. I've got tea, you've got a harbor.
Sum's it up, your taxes go to your local services you vote on. This is why they give tax breaks to the companies. NY just wants to have its cake and eat it too, get business's then come up with a way to make up the rest.
Bloated government will do this, and NY is leading the pack in overspending and overtaxing. Just amazed at how much crap people let their government officals get away with.
I like this, so anyone living in India working on projects in NY now have to pay NY income tax?! I LOVE IT, too bad it will be overturned. (IMHO)
There are too many people who live across state lines, states are not going to give up income just because some other state passes a unconstitutional law.
They use a flaw'ed argument, the employeer might provide the job, but where the person lives that the taxes pays for the roads, public services. Its the employee that pays the taxes on his location not the employeer.
The employeer gets tax breaks, so they try to make it up with taxing the out of state employees? Nice try NY.
I've tried both IceWM and Fluxbox, and to tell the truth I didnt see any speed increase over IceWM with fluxbox. And since IceWM had anti-aliased fonts and a nice toolbar, I started using it as my main light weight WM.
First thing I thought, if you could power it with ethernet, you could put this in remote locations for sensors. But 250mA is pretty efficient.
I could see a use for the wifi+serial setup, you could put this on older serial based nodes and remotely access them. Big market for HVAC when everyone wants them to replace hardware. Our schools here in the Washington state is saving millions by using linux and other technology than going with Honeywell or some other company to rip out the entire system and replace with modern (aka expensive) controls.
A wifi serial setup would be cool, to pop in a router, and then access via my laptop, so I dont have to run a wire when I'm testing or racking it up.
I wonder how many millions of dollars per year, Blizzard saves on bandwith for using BitTorrent instead of single file downloads. Bandwidth alone, they only have to have a tracker and a small pipe.
I'm an avid tribes player, Tribes1/2 and some TV. The biggest problem is Sierra and Vivendi are horrible about support and management of smaller companies. They are the modern day land barons, they are buying every game franchise they can get their hands on, and killing off any competition they can.
If you follow the forums for most game support you will see the developers are kept in the dark, until they are let go. This is a common trend with them. This is nothing new, they have been doing it for years. Its extremely cheap to hire 2 developers to write patches for a year, but of course, patching isnt included in the budget, so its chopped at first VP's sight.
Its sad, as Tribes was my favorite game, I watched the server count for "Base" the normal game dwindle to a couple that was always full of extremely die hard players. I even collected every sound pack I could and merged them into 1 sound pack, over 800 megs of.wav files, so you could listen to everyones special soundpack. Was on Tribalwar and Tribes planet daily reading and posting int he forums, havnt done that in over 3 years.
Tribescon was my first gamecon I went too, came in 2nd and 1st at the first 2 tribes cons. Even keep 2 signed boxes of tribes on my desk, for the 5 years I played tribes, I played almost daily. (And yes, went to work, school, and had family time..)
Simple, fun, and for a long time, no aimbots. It was on par with counterstrike in pure enjoyment and simple gameplay. Tactical operations, not sci-fi mega weapons. Smooth gameplay, and great maps.
Glad its free, I have both the freely released versions sitting on my HD, think I'll play this weekend. I urge you guys to download and play it, while the graphics of T1 isnt the greatest, it is a pure enjoyable game. T2 was the early engine that Garage games used to launch its business. And wow, how that engine has progressed. I was reading the changelog on the Developers build, the vegetation, and rendering is simple awesome.
BTW, heres whats on my desk at work, -minus the empty cups of coffee.;) Signed Tribes Boxes
The only review I see in detail is here. http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/gameId/8 8
Downloaded the videos from the website, didnt seem that impressive compared to what I'm playing in World of Warcraft.
Anyone have any experience? How does it look and play compared to WoW? I know I tried City of Heros after playing WoW, canceled my account to CoH after a week.
OSX wont even play WoW decently without 1 gig. I was getting 10FPS before, jumped to 45+ with 1Gig of ram. Ram is WAY more important for games than the video card, going from ann ATI 9000 to an ATI 9800 showed ram is the sorespot. Yes, you can get away with 512, but dont expect to be playing video games.
I replaced my linux box with a dual g4 running OSX with darwinports.:)
Landlines now have to be able to dial 911, even if you dont pay for service. I think its a FCC rule now. So even if you dont want phone service, you can still have a phone in your home for 911.
911 should be turned on by default, but using an excuse that it routes through call centers is absurd. Local 911 departments have been routing calls for the last few years due to budget cuts. Thats a lame excuse.
Also GPS doesnt work as well indoors, so people who said that, thats not really going to work. Right now, cellular companies use tringulation and RF timing to detect where you are, works pretty well. Cingular (Former ATT Wireless) has friend finder, where you can add your friends and family and see where they are. Or leave a phone in the your car, and find out all hours where the car is.;)
And those MS SQL licenses dont include the OS, or other MS related products. What about if you are required to upgrade to Windows 2003 server for all your servers, it could be so expensive that the one time headache of converting is worth it.
I think any articles that helps you from being locked into one product is worth it. Having dealt with multiple products and for the telcom industry, they love taking a standard product and adding some piece of software that seems to lock you in. Radius, DHCP, DNS, all standard products, but put a gui and database, provide some backend API for provisioning, now your locked in.
Give me unix and text configs anydays over a gui anyday.
Do I pirate music? Yes. Do I know it's technically wrong? Yes. Am I sympathetic to an industry which has stolen from me and everyone else for years and now has the tables turned? No fucking way.
Do you have the right to break a law because you dont agree with it?
Either way you answer that shows question more problems with the legal and political system than most people are ready to address. Mindboggling issues that most Americans (or World) are not ready, or not important enough to deal with. I see the p2p issue a larger part of a bigger problem.
WoW has some game issues right now, its not really an full RPG, its just the action part, with a little bit of trade skills thrown in.
Its also extremely unbalanced, Alliance out numbers Horde 2:1. Fighting pre-battlegrounds is normally zerg'ed by the alliance. Will be interesting to see how they keep alliance players happy when they cap 200 players per Battlegrounds.
Also, with all the servers broken up to about 20K players per server, you will not get to play with all friends. Thats a real shame.
I'd say there is enough annoyances and oversight by Blizzard, it might take 1-2 years to address all issues. Be interesting to see how much churn they have when the newest MMO's come out this year.
They are using the bike as an example of what a CORE power system is, think if it as a big battery, you can take the battery out of your motorcycle and put it into your jet ski.
But the battery is reusable, and can be used else where. Camping, Emergency Generators, vehicals, kids toys, etc.
And as for the quiteness of them, new problems are only new challenges. Most people cant hear whats outside their car now, with the radio on, speaker phone, and kids crying in the back.
Funny how quiet is a drawback, when I'm thinking quiet traffic is worth it. You dont jay-walk for a reason, now you dont hear the car hitting you, maybe its darwinism in realtime.
Remote desktop is faster than VNC, and has better native support. I wouldnt use RDP's added features of mounting resources, but display time is almost realtime compared to VNC.
But VNC supports proxy's which comes in handy on a corporate network.
Remote Desktop too, I use that daily, to get into my home machine from work and on the road.
User security, File sharing and NTFS security is also missing or crippled.
I couldnt use XP Home, its missing too many features. Hell, I had get the crack for SP2 so I could run my P2P programs again!
Of course, you could get a mac and use OSX, its both simple for the average user and unix based for the power users. Having to run Cygwin on XP to get features that come standard on other systems, shows the legacy aspects of windows.
Ive found the coconut ritter sport at the local walgreens, amazing stuff.
The problem with being an American, you dont know what other choices are, unless you travel or spend a week surfing google on some chocolate best brand list, then ordering online from sites. BLAH.
People complain that Americans dont have taste, maybe our tastes are limited because of our avilable choices. One reason people eat at mcdonalds, they are everywhere.
There are a few problems WoW, its main goal is to get people preped for a endgame instances and Battlegrounds.
Basically you try for better armor/weapons (or do the same instances 1000 times waiting for a drop) on the same instances...
Then you goto Battlegrounds, and fight for better armor/weapons...
The only cookie in the game is the weapons and instances? Theres nothing beyond it, theres no real indepth RPG factor to the game. (Ok, some of the quests are entertaining, and a little RPG'ish)..
And the new PvP system has a few bugs, you get jumped by a 50 and you attack back you get dishonor? A lone 60 attacks a group of 50s and get dishonor? What happens when you dont play for a week or 2, you loose rank? What if you where doing instances? Too many issues still on PvP not explained.
Also currently, the Alliance outnumbers most servers 2/1, my server Bloodhoof is 10K Alliance vs 5K horde. What happens when Battlegrounds starts and its a limit of 200 vs 200? Alot of Alliance wont be able to play. That is my favorite, since currently Alliance raids towns with more people than can defend. Blizzard seems to want to stop all town raiding and move people to Battlegrounds, since its a dedicated server. Last time Alliance attacked our Horde city of Origmmar, they crashed the server. WTG.:)
While the graphics and gameplay is fun, the gameplay is locked into "fight, fight, heal some, fight" there isnt anything other than fighting . Farming is just fighting monsters for drops, same difference.
In SWG you can build a house, build things, put in it, trophies of sorts. But you have a private area, same with Anarchy Online. WoW has no such thing, its bascially, you, and a bank to store some stuff.
I was hoping for more RPG than hack and slash, while fun, gets old. I have lots of friends who came here from City of Heros burnt out, what happens when you realize you do the same thing over and over? Nothing, you move to the next MMORPG.
One of the Massive online games "Second Life" actually lets you build things, the flip side, you can build WAY too much, and less of the fun game. Its more social, you build, chat, play games (triva/etc), but no RPG hack and slash.. I think SIM's is about middle, but the tasks are a little stupid, and you feel too cartoonish.
I really want to see a game that includes both, the building aspect, the fighting aspect, the trophies, the content. I've been following www.mmorpg.com on newer games to see if anything is close.
WoW PvP is going to be the make it or break it for Blizzard, if they dont offer something for people to enjoy they will lose people to the new MMORPG's coming out. They have newer game engines, have new ideas, Space combat, Car combat, new D&D games, Matrix online, list goes on... so much stuff to keep people busy, 6 months before you figure out if the game has anything left to offer...
I know, i've spent way too much time playing WoW, more than most games in the past, I've been level 60 for awhile, leader of a guild (Since our leader left for a "Leet" guild.). Going on high end instances, about a month away from all our avereage guys making 60. Just in time for Battlegrounds, or limited raid parties.
I think Battlegrounds is going to be the saving grace for Blizzard, if it sucks, people are going to leave.
I understand the need to outlaw suicide so its never a state endorsed, but there are times when suicide is better than enduring pain.
I heard a comment from someone the other day, saying how if the state endorsed it, people would ask the elderly who are a burden to commit suicide. I suppose if its financial and the family is hurting, but damn...
On cases of cancer and such, if I was dieing and in pain, and with the outlaw of drugs that could help, one could be tempted...
Now imagine you need to commit suicide, you could mess up and make your pain worse, or die horrible. Thats why reasons black info needs to exist, the day you have to use....
I use the command line under screen on my mac, in fact, I ssh into my mac more than sit at the desktop. My wife will be playing World of warcraft on it, and I'll just ssh for irssi/bt underscreen.
There are alot of new users that see what OSX is, a kick ass unix box with a great multi user desktop.
Don't worry, one day you will arrive in NY at an airport and find a warrent for your arrest. Or even worse, since California and NY have extradition agreements, maybe the next time your pulled over in California, you get a plane ticket with a bunch of other jump suited buddies.

Lots of uses. Very cool idea.
Anyone try PSP to divx?
I wanted to get one, but last few times it wasnt out yet. Didnt even it was out, didnt see any commericals or news..
Maybe thats why? Guys at work all want one, been talking about it for awhile.

Exactly what obligation does Adaptec have?
To the Stockholders. If they dont play ball with opensource vendors, vendors will ship with hardware that is supported.
You want to buy a linux solution, you buy from a vendor for support, of course nothing stop adaptec to bribe the vendors, its the microsoft way.
Do I pirate music? Yes. Do I know it's technically wrong? Yes. Am I sympathetic to an industry which has stolen from me and everyone else for years and now has the tables turned? No fucking way.
