Also most places wont charge transaction fees on cash. On Debit/Check/Credit cards everyone charges a fee. The only place that waives fees are grocery stores.
I'm using the command line of GPG, and it works great. What makes filecrypt($5000+980 for support) better than GPG(Free-email support)? Is the filecrypt SDK worth the 5000 bux?
I see the need for the product, command line for encrypted server->server communications. Just wondering how/why it beats GPG. Maybe support. But at 99 dollars a user, the costs seem extremely high.
Good luck to Zimmermann, but cost saving companies will the free GNU versions.
Same thing here, we need SSH and FTP out. So, just ssh tunnel into your home unix box, and surf from there. Also for some unknown reason, Windows Remote Desktop is allowed. So we can also use our windows boxen from home to surf.
And if all else fails, we have http-tunnel, or even a gprs aircard.
Yes, filtering can be overdone. Hell, half the articles on Slashdot are about people going to the extreme. Copyrights, DMCA, DRM, its all whack-a-mole politics.
But some things come down to, "Humm, Good Idea". And letting people filter, or modify the content they already paid for seems good to me. I do know some PG13 movies, might have a couple minutes that I dont want my 6yo to watch, so it could come in handy. But more likely, I will just watch movies after they goto bed. Biggest thing I want filtering for, is to get rid of the commericals on Disney movies. First 10 minutes are nothing but damn previews and soft drink commericals. At least 8x FF takes care of it quickly. (For now)
eh. Easier to buy a DVD player than raise your kids.
True True, I'd rather watch Austin Powers on dvd than raise my kids, little brats!
Seriously, This is a good thing. Filtering helps parents. I filter TV, Internet, and other parts of their lifes. DVD Filtering is just another step. Being a full time parent in a modern Internet hooked up world is hard, give us more options. So all you people without kids, who keep saying "its easier than raising your kids..." should stfu. Filtering helps parents. - Children today are tyrants. They contradict their parents, gobble their food, and tyrannize their teachers. - Socrates (469 BC - 399 BC)
Save yourself the trouble and skip ATI altogether.
I also have been Nvidia mostly for my gaming machine, but had a Voodoo5 for awhile (still had some glide games).
All my laptops have had ATI for years, and no problems. So I took a chance and bought an ATI 9700 last year. It was faster than the 4600 leadtek(I borrowed one), video out and dual monitor was extremely stable. Nice 100mhz refresh rate on both monitors also.
As an active gamer, and linux/freebsd user, I think I'm a little more critical, and bitch about every little thing too.;)
1. 16 bit AA was missing, but ATI added in the drivers. (I had workarounds, but the feature needed to be added.) 2. Some game problems, but ATI has been fixed most if not all little problems. (www.rage3d for more info) 3. Enhanced color options (Digital vibrance is missing, but most gamers don't even use it... What a shame, it really is nice, imho) 4. Linux support worked great on mandrake and redhat, Thou UT2003 didn't under linux. (I didn't spend enough time, so there might be work arounds)
So far, no problems with any games, the only area of games I don't play most, RPGs or MMPOG Thou Dungeon Siege and Never Winter nights worked perfectly.
My favorite, and a major overkill on it, is CS with 4x AA and 16x AF at 100fps. Also no problems on UT2003, BF1942, MOHAA, Q3, Jedi Knight, HL/CS, etc.
Dont forget all the Drugs = Terrorism commercials they have on. I'm sure some people even believe it.

In the last few years, we always talked about the.com commercials on slashdot. Even followed up by links with Commericals for download. You dont get that on CNN.
BTW, Only.com I see was monster.com, fedex isnt really a.com.
Thank God, I'm not an American. I don't know anyone willing to sit through 4 hours of "Pre-Game", 3 hours of the game, then another 2 hours of "Post-Game Wrap-up".
2 hours of "Making of Lord of the Rings", then 3 hours "Lord of the Rings" followed by an hour of "Behind the Scenes of LOTR" on cable.
I can think of some important things to consider about the interaction of your network and root servers.
1. Some 3rd party DNS programs, like NetIQ and Preside. Require you to have root servers configured. Some will even break if you put false root information into it.
2. All unknown queries are sent to root servers, like your DMZ'ed networks. (Depends on your software has failsafe mode, but Bind can be disabled.)
3. Other TLD's are queried by the root domains..GPRS used for 3G phone networks (example) might be also query the wrong root level servers.
4. With the security being a hot topic, networks are switching from recursive lookups to iterative mode. Which makes for more visible lookups on a network sniff by increased traffic.
Also, you can offload dns on your home networks by using a local dns server. Really handy, caches lookups, saves bandwidth, easier to setup than bind, and can use your/etc/hosts file to pretend you have DNS on a nat'ed network. dnsmasq on freshmeat is very nice choice.
When they can charge 2250 bux for a 24 inch GDM-FW900 Wide screen monitor (2304X1440), compared to 250 bux for a 19inch monitor, its an easy to tell where the profit is.
BTW, We have these on triple headed sun boxes, man they are great. I'd love to have one at home, dvd, hdtv and games, oh yeah... Too bad its artificially priced high, you could buy 2 21 inch LCDs for the same price.

I'm currently running xft2+XFree86 4.2.99 on gentoo, and the fonts look better on my lcd than in WindowsXP.
The big difference, In Windows any application will use AA fonts by default. In Linux, your application needs to have AA compiled in via a supported method. Gentoo does this better, as its a source based distro, you configure it yourself. Redhat has to precompile the source with AA enable (via its supported methods).
Lots of dependencies on Linux, makes it is much more difficult to enable and use AA fonts. Also helps if you know what methods to enable, and configurations. (I dont have them, do you? Is your method the best? Is it a hack? Was it the correct supported procedure? Did it break anything?) Ugh. Good job for Redhat for trying to make it easy for the average/newbie linux user.
I didnt see the fonts listed. Does the fonts released include "zapfdingbats" and "lucida sans"? I can add lucida via MS fonts, but zapfdingbats is copyrighted, and not avail for download. (Except for Adobe Typeset on windows.)
Many production X Window software seem to use these 2 fonts, and xfree doesnt include them. No loss, but I see the error all the time, on many applications. (Do a google search, it is a common problem)

Even the educational game "Oregon Trail" could be considered violent, you hunted animals for food, you had members of your family die, drowning in the river crossing, etc.
Really, you can't legislate morality. And still, every Joe congress critter tries.
Or course, What's next? The government taking away your children for letting them play violent video games? They do know best, for the safety of the child. Youre not against Child Safety are you?
PC game company Sierra is planning on having people download games, with the STEAM content delivery system. They released the CounterStrike 1.6 on it. It allows the user to subscribe and PAY for online games. They even state you need a 256K connection to use the service. (Works ok on modem, but the initial download of 100 megs sucks)
Companies want subscription based services, everyone has been stating that for years. Look at MMPGs, SIMS online, etc. You buy the game AND pay a monthly fee.
I personally dont see myself moving to a console for most of my games, using a kb/mouse sucks for FPS shooters. And with MOD Support for games, you basically getting free games. Look at Half-Life, you buy the main game, and you can play CounterStrike for free.

I can bet segway use is not the most important issue in San Franisco. And banning segway use on "Safety" issues is a smoke screen, the real issue with the segway is some elected officals personally dont like it. So they made it illegal. If you really cared about safety, you would run a pilot program, and test it out. Here in Seattle they are working better than expected.
I dont understand what everyones fear and loathing of the segway is, its just another transportation device. It doesnt go fast enough for street use, 12.5 mph(fastest) wont keep up with traffic. And 8mph on lowest speed seems perfect for sidewalks and bikelanes.
Ambitious in nature, the game had hoped to replicate a continuous global war that supported up to 500 players.
And at Ambitious $400,000 a month subscriber fee, they might make their money back.

Our company decided to block hotmail one day, Marketing flipped, and its back on.
They also blocked FuckedCompany.com, that scared the shit out of me. They want to make sure no employees sees the layoff rumors!
It's a wonderful policy, "reasonable personal use." If in doubt, ask your manager: it's as simple as that.

The city had incorrect information. So yes, the city voted correct with the incorrect information.
