Lets say I make an icon of "kill Bush" and gun pointed at his head and make it an icon for my IM. Now lets say I make similar icon of "kill my boss". Why 'teacher' relationship calls for an exception? Being an idiot is my right protected by constitution.
Question you should be asking is not "does it makes sense to put adds here" and not even "do these adds detract from the game" but "will it make money". If money gained from having product placement surpasses money lost to disgruntled customers then it will happen.
I don't see how rest of the world will stand for US mandating tolls on what should be, by design, nutral grounds. Hopefuly net result will be World-US Wide Web and US Wide Web. usww.theygottobejoking.gov
>>>I like it because it's straightforward. There's not a lot of non-game activity required to play the game. The quests are straightforward, the game mechanics are straightforward, the class roles are straightforward.
I'm guessing you are new to MMORPGs, when you have few under your belt repetitiveness and sameness typical of WoW will not be something you want to experience.
You can compare WoW to a bland sitcom, while it delivers all typical elements it lacks wit, creativity and originality. If you never experienced anything similar you might not realize that they 'borrowed' a lot of ideas/concepts/implementations but for veterans of genre it is all been there done that.
There is no way clientele of WallMart will have expertise to put together a PC, less chose parts that will work together. So very likely they will sell 'kit' computers, something already proven to work together and not very complicated to put together.
As to WallMart's effect of computer market - well I think from now on all cables will be of higher quality with clear markings and BIOS will have 'you plugged cable-such-and-such backwards' checks build in.
As to Linux - I think it will provide stronger push for better automated installers/detectors.
I disagree with original article. Lets look at movie industry - for average user it is dominated by large-budget blockbusters with occasional Indy or international movie hitting it 'big'. For movie connoisseur it is dominated by international and Indy movies with occasional blockbuster 'getting it right'. Both Indy and blockbusters can be profitable.
In the game market - consoles will tend to favor blockbuster titles and big budgets and PCs will dominated by specialized 'niche' games with occasional blockbusters ported from consoles. Both markets can fail to make money or be hugely profitable.
This thing is larger than tricorder in original Star Treck series! Also why put touchscreen on this device when better alternatives, like Wearable Display available?
Last time I went to see a movie they aired this annoying add - it showed guy stealing a car, person stealing a purse and person shoplifting and they equated it all to downloading movies, and all of this they showed to audience that already paid to see this movie in a theaters. Why stop here, equate copyright infringement to genocide and rape?
I use Axcess G-1000 WIFI VOIP Phone for some time now, no need to subscribe to WiFi if you know your area's open access points. Since I work for VoIP provider my VoIP phone has a regular number, but nothing stops you from IP-dialing if you want to keep it free. Now I'm waiting for VoIP phone with fallback to cell to arrive - there are some out there but ones I tested had issues.
Double standards boggle my mind. Microsoft would be lynched for half the things Google gets away from.
Can someone please tell me why having your all private correspondence (gmail) or your file system (desktop) searchable by someone OTHER THAN ORIGINAL OWNER is a good idea? I know Google not suppose to extract any information, but if they CAN at some point they WILL.
Ukrainian traditional culture was 'dying' ever since Kathrin disbanded Kazaks, it survived USSR it will survive junk food and Internet. If anything Yushenko gave Ukraine a shot at becoming a democracy, instead of slipping back into totalitarian Imperialism like Russia. If anything he is pro EU, since it's the only sane alternative to Russia.
Oh and C.Cola and McD. are present in Ukraine ever since early 90th, its all produced locally and owned by local businesses that don't pay much loyalties since all books are cooked as a standard business practice in Ukraine. I somehow fail to see
So in other words - you don't know what you are talking about when you talk about E. European politics. At least one thing you got right - nobody buys legal software in Ukraine, at least not end-users, and nothing changed with this regard as in ALL non-first world countries. How can you expect people to pay up to two months salary just for legal MS disk?
You got it right, any evolutionary improvement with cripple-ware DRM will not fly. You need to look at features list of any technology, when half of this list is crossed off by pointless DRM its no longer better than predecessor.
The *only* reason Firefox is more secure than IE is that it has lower market share, as a result less effort spent on compromising it. The same reason MAC has few, if any, viruses and exploits.
>>> inventing the perpetuum mobile!
Just think of the mileage you will get out of it.
What about Knights of The Old Republic (not 2), Planescape Torment, Baldurs Gate, Fallout, DeusEX (not 2), System Shock, Oblivion just to name few?
Best thing Mythic could do to UO is to return to pre-UO:R days and scrap years of misguided efforts to clone EQ.

Little Timmy is poopsock trained at his 5 years and can ninja with the best of them.

I just powerleveled to step 12, all in under 5 hours. Too bad end game sucks, I going to reroll.

I hope they all go to Pound me in the ass prison but not before Jury find them guilty.
Welcome to product lock-in, they can charge you whatever they want since they control platform, distribution, titles and any and all networking.
Buy him a car. Catass .
Seems a lot of 'fringe' MMOG going free, like Shadowbane for some unknown PR reasons, instead of turning off the lights.
1) Release MMOG
2) Give it out for free
3) ????
4) Profit
Not sure what they hope for.

I don't know about you but pulling out BFG every time I see flaming skull floating around saved me more than once.
