well my point is not some appeal to the authority of the collective science community, its that there is no actual scientific work done on it. Thats what you have to do to even consider it to be science. And I would have to say, in 1870 general relativity was not science. Its science now, precisely because Einstein published papers and put up falsifiable hypotheses about it. But back in 1870 it would just be me or you talking about some crazy notion about curved space and mass. It may be true, just as ID may be true, but its not scientifically true until its passed scientific tests. I think this is a good article that better eulicidates my reasoning.

sorry I dont have any lefty blog posts to link to off hand, but you could probably find something at TPM, Matt Yglesias, or Kevin Drum if you look. I dont read a lot of lefty blogs myself, but I've heard mostly pretty good things on those guys. I've seen a lot of different points of view over the past few days in the blogosphere. I tend to take the view somewhat similar to wretchard at belmont, that this is not intifadam its economic and social, but looking to the future, the radical islamists would be fools not to try to capitalize off of a large muslim and north african population rioting in a western nation.

Here's a topic page with links to mostly right wing blog posts about the riots. 15. Re:So why DO they riot, anyway? on French Riots Lead to Crackdown on Blogs · · Score: 1

one of the reasons is unemployment. France's national unemployment is around 8 or 10%. If you look only at young 20 somethings, then the unemployment is almost double that, and if you look at young 20 something immigrants, then its double that or so, almost 40% I think. Another reason I've heard are drug dealers and such criminals using the violence to keep the cops out of their turf. As of right now there is little suggesting islamic or jihadi influence as a cause of the riots. However I would bet that al qaeda and other radical islamic organizations are taking notice of the riots and planning. Here's a topic page with links to mostly right wing blog posts about the riots. its also true of the non 60gig versions. If you look on Amazon the only ipods that they price as new are the color screen video and/or picture ones. All the rest are sold by other venders and refurbished or used, and thus would not have been a good indicator of price difference in my comparison.

  20. Re:Drink the Apple Kool-aid... on Dealing with Digital Music and Vendor Lock-In? · · Score: 1

Yeah, I couldnt really find the old non color screen ipod on amazon to link to, but the price is pretty much the same now as it was then. And I added basic in there because I consider the product to be an mp3 player, and the basic function of an mp3 player is to play mp3's (and other file formats), and thus the color screen and stuff was just extra.

We were parked on the side of the street downtown. She opened the door and my mp3 player fell out of the car and down one of those drainage sewers you see on the sides of roads, underneath sidewalks. Luckily I was able to open up the manhole cover on it and go down and get it. It was probably a 5 foot fall. I noticed to damage and it still works fine to this day.

I think his point is less that, "more scientists favor evolution over ID", and more that "NO scientists favor ID over evolution". To be science you take hypotheses and do experiments and publish papers and get peer reviews. Where are the ID experiments? Where are the scientists writing papers on ID? There are none.

well, there was no color screen or video playback ipod when I bough mine, and pretty colored song titles wasnt a big selling point for me either way. Video playback? Maybe. I dont know a whole lot about how it works, but I dont really use my mp3 player in situations where I can concentrate my focus on it. I listen to my mp3 player while walking to my apt, or when I was walking to class (or occasionally while I was in class) usually, if I want to watch a video I'll go to my tv or computer with bigger screens. The charging over usb sounds attractive, but I went with the Nomad because it has a detachable battery, and I can buy a new one for less than $50. Plus the thing has been durable. My girlfriend dropped it down a sewer and it still works fine. I have no regets about my decision.
