Dvorak is slightly faster, gives me less pain, but most importantly it FORCES you to type correctly. You cannot look at the keyboard when the key lables have no relation to what character is put on the screen. You should NEVER look at your keyboard. Glancing down and up kills your speed because you have to orient yourself each time you transition. A one second overhead starts to add up when you do this several times per minute while programming for ten hours straight. If you don't care for the other benifits of Dvorak then at least file off the letters on your keyboard so you have to type correctly. Best thing you can do for yourself if you spend any amount of time entering text into a computer.
